Our lovely old and characterful house was need complete renovation when we bought it just over two years ago. It was added to many times over the centuries not always having much thought to integrating the changes resulting in a rather quirky house with few straight walls or floors! It is a lovely house of immense character and interest. It is suitable for individual guest, couples or groups of friends. All rooms have either an en suite or private bath/shower room. The rooms are at the front of the house facing the Wye valley and river Wye. Our dining room is a beautiful room with French doors and a wood burning stove for cold mornings. We provide a small fridge for the use of guests and are happy to supply wine glasses for guests who wish to bring their own wine. There is seating in the garden for guests who want to take advantage of the views when the weather is warm. We can provide a power washer and storage for bikes and also storage for other sports equipment ie: Canoes, fishing gear, golf clubs etc. There are many places to eat in the area from fast food to award winning fine food country inns. A highly commended Inn across the river offers a "lift" service to our guests.
Originally from Ireland but having spent 40 years living in England I settled in the Wye valley two years ago to start a new life. I live with my husband and youngest grown up son in Inglewood House in Redbrook. It is a lovely warm and welcoming village where we have felt at home from the beginning. I am passionate about good food and hospitality and love to meet new people. It is great to meet people from all over the world as they visit our beautiful house and area. Having been a vegetarian for almost 40 years now I understand how difficult how it can be to have "special" diets catered for and will endeavour to do my best to cater for your requirements although it is good to have notice if possible. I try to use fresh and local ingredients whenever possible to provide you with a tasty nutritious start to your day. Packed lunches can be provided on request for an additional cost. As a mother of sons I have enjoyed hosting a wedding party here with the bride leaving from house. I look forward to welcoming you and sharing our lovely house and area with you. Ensuring that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay will be my priority.
Redbrook is lovely village in an official "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". Situated in the beautiful Wye Valley and of the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean it is surrounded by beautiful scenery offering a plethora of outdoor activities for visitors. There are walks from the doorstep with Offas Dyke to the back of the house and the Wye Way to.You can choose to be as active as you like with walking, climbing,fishing, canoeing, road or mountain biking or shooting or simply enjoy the views and visiting the local tea shops, restaurants and hostelries. We are on the border between England and Wales where castles and old churches abound. The world famous Tintern Abbey is just a few miles down the road. Monmouth is two miles in the other direction and is a lovely county town to visit. There are a huge number of places to visit with easy travelling distance from the house such as Cardiff, Abergavenney,Brecon,Hereford,Ludlow, Ledbury,Gloucester,Bristol and the Cotswolds too. There is a bus stop right outside the front door for those who travel on public transport. The nearest train station is Lydney or Chepstow. We are fortunate to have two pubs serving food within 5 minutes walk.
