Norbreck Castle Hotel & Spa, hotel in Blackpool

With views of Blackpool seafront, The Norbreck Castle Hotel is a short tram ride from the town centre. It has live entertainment, a sauna, spa and 18-metre pool.

Room was clean. Reception staff lovely. No hot water at all and after a day out no shower was available. It was cold, the heating wasn’t working. Some families were offered oil heaters but not us.

The Big Blue Hotel - Blackpool Pleasure Beach, hotel in Blackpool

In vibrant Blackpool, this 4-star hotel has free Wi-Fi, a gym and paid parking. The Big Blue Hotel has its own private entrance to Blackpool Pleasure Beach open at selected times.

The hotel is located next to the Pleasure Beach and offers VIP access for guests which was a lovely bonus. The room was comfortable and very clean. There was fidelity to branding throughout the hotel - mints on reception, coffee sachets, stickers on toilet rolls etc - which was a nice touch. We looked out onto the park with some of the rollercoaster tracks just metres from the window, but there was no noise whilst we were in the room. There is a sizeable restaurant and a smaller bar which got full each night of our stay. The breakfast had a reasonable selection of hot and cold options, prepared and cooked well, along with juice and coffee machines. The evening bar and restaurant staff were very friendly. There is a car park but it was very busy during our stay. It was expensive compared to local Council car parks e.g. South Beach just a few minutes walk away.

FAQs about hotels in Blackpool

Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea

A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.

On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!

More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.

A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

The overall appearance was of dereliction and lack of cleanliness. We had never been to Blackpool before and based on this visit will not visit again. We used the bus but the smell of urine from a couple of the other travellers made us regret doing that. Sadly the wind was so strong we could not get to the beach. We had trouble finding somewhere to eat that looked clean and better than Wetherspoons in standard of food on our walk back to the hotel from the tower - which like the rest of Blackpool was closed. We finally ate at the Grosvenor Casino and the food was excellent there- but we had to pay a lot for it.

Liked the promenade and walk on pier... which is lovely if the weather is good. Otherwise the two top attractions for us , the Tower ballroom and Winter Gardens were both closed for private events. These were not well publicised. Everything else seems dated and tacky...

I liked the Mayfair Hotel and found Paul the host very welcoming during my stay there. It is in a great location and close to Blackpool Tower and the seafront. If you like your nightlife you can't go wrong here as close to pubs and clubs. The hotel itself was very clean, room was cosy with an ensuite shower room. Breakfast was great with a choice of cereals, fruit juices and a help yourself buffet style full English breakfast. All in all i enjoyed my two nights at the Mayfair, and would recommend if stopping over in Blackpool.

Location was spot on and where we wanted to be the hosts were amazing and very friendly and so welcoming the room was amazing bed comfy and room was quality and the bar in hotel was quite cheap for Blackpool you were 60 second walk from hotel to seafront about 2 minute walk from south pier and about 5 mins walk from pleasure beach and 30 secs walk from south pier tram stop where you can get the tram to town or through the illuminations trams were every 15 minutes quality couldn't beat it

The bed was good and comfortable The hotel was in a good location for me as I have set places I visit when in Blackpool. I also like to walk. Did not use the breakfast facilities as I do not eat alot in a morning and like to chose what I want the day I awake up. Downstairs at the hotel they have a grea bar which sells real ales and has music and seating which w\as very nice. Dont drink beer myself but thought it a good idea to add to the good idea of that bar.

The hotel is perfectly located - right on the promenade near the north shore tram stop, a short walk from Blackpool North train station. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bar & breakfast looked good although we didn't use those facilities. The room was clean & a decent size, and had a smart TV which enabled Netflix login and other apps which we thought was a nice touch. The shower was powerful, and the black out curtains really worked well.
