This family run guesthouse sits scenically on the Snæfellsnes peninsula on Iceland’s western coast, and features views of the surrounding nature from all rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. The northern lights rippled across the sky the first and only night of our stay. That moment will live with me forever. As for the rest of the stay, the dinner and breakfast were delicious and filling, we loved the brown bread and jam the most.

Set in the quiet countryside of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this family-run guest house is 45 minutes’ drive from Stykkishólmur town centre. We really enjoyed our stay there. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We arrived later than expected because our toddler has car sickness sometimes. Not only they waited for us until later than 10pm, but they even offered us to wash the dirty (vomited) clothes. They also heated up the room in advance to make sure it was comfortable upon arrival. The room was big and spacious, clean, and the views from the room make it perfect to see the Northern Ligths on a clear night (unfortunately, we were not lucky with the weather).

The shower did not have a normal drain but rather had a space between the tiles for the water. We didn’t realize this immediately and water was EVERYWHERE. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the fresh bread is out of this world. Abundance of parking spaces (free) and we saw the aurora from this location.

Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with lots of options, especially the delicious pastries. Very quiet and clean room. Highly recommended.

Located in the country side, Hotel Stundarfridur offers accommodation 12 km from Stykkishólmur. This property provides guests with a terrace. There is also a restaurant and a shared lounge. Everything was just perfect. The room was great, big, the bathroom was really clean and spacious. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was AMAZING. Breakfast is good, lots of variety. Staff is really nice and helped us with everything during our stay. Nice atmosphere, cozy and its really easy to get there too.

The room was a bit small but satisfied me as a solo traveller. The dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were very good. It is near the Black Church.
