Close to Togakushi Shrine, 宿屋白金家 yadoya-shiroganeya 1日1組限定2名から8名様まで 全館貸切り 伝統的建造物の旅籠宿 Traditional culture experience is set in Nagano and has a hot spring bath and garden. Simply the best accomodation I have experienced anywhere! Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 9.1 km of Otsumago and 9.3 km of Kotoku-ji Temple. I had an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, everything was perfect—impeccable service, a welcoming atmosphere, and attention to detail in every aspect. The family that owned the place was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure I felt comfortable and well taken care of. The quality of the dinner exceeded my expectations, and I truly appreciated the effort that went into making everything just right

Centrally located in the Echo Land district, Hakuba Echo Hotel and Apartments offers comfortable rooms with mountain views. Hakuba Matata is an awesome lodge! The rooms are cozy but that's the Japanese style. The common room is super inviting and a great space to hangout and relax. The lodge was super clean, quiet, and has an awesome breakfast! There are two super close bus stops for all the ski resort shuttles and the main food strip is a relatively short walk away. Would definitely come back and stay for our next ski trip!

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. We had our wedding at Stone Church, and since all the hotels near the church were fully booked, we chose to stay at the nearby B&B Hyochoan. Our entire stay was filled with warmth and love. We arrived late at around 9 p.m. because we took the wrong Shinkansen, but the hosts were waiting for us and even came out to greet us and help with our luggage from the taxi. Inside, hot tea was waiting for us, and they kindly explained the room’s features. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and thoughtfully prepared Japanese breakfast. When we were about to leave, we mentioned we were there for our wedding, and the elderly hosts surprised us with a gift of a bottle of wine! Their invoice was also thoughtfully printed, including a photo of us taken during our stay and some local sightseeing recommendations. The house was very clean, with a spacious backyard full of greenery, which was an unexpected delight! For the area, the price was the most reasonable and fair. Highly recommended!

Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations. This is a true Japanese cultural and cuisine experience that was the highlight of our holiday. The room with private Onsen and private bathroom was exceptional and much better than we imagined for a traditional Raikan and the Onsen experience was worth pushing our comfort zones for. The culinary offerings were incredible (even if many were not to our taste) they clearly pride themselves on perfection, symmetry and are proud of their cultural roots. Some of their dishes have been presented to the imperial household and wearing traditional clothing and private intimate dining you simply couldn’t ask for a truer traditional & cultural experience at the highest end. The Raikan bus to the snow monkeys is only a 5 minute drive and they ask for a small contribution to cover their costs. The private Onsen on the terrace was an absolute treat.
