With panoramic views of the Tasman Sea, The Bay Motel overlooks Halfmoon Bay on Stewart Island. It features a nearby golf course, a free shuttle service and free private parking on site. Our host Ted met us at the ferry on arrival (we had pre arranged this) and took us on a short drive to introduce us to Oban. Our studio was spacious with all the facilities needed for our 2 night stay. We arrived late afternoon to an already warm room. Views from the balcony of Half Moon Bay in the late afternoon sun were splendid. Fresh milk was provided and appreciated. The Motel is an easy walk to town and to walking tracks. Ted and Donna were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ted gave us tips on a shortcut to Golden Bay and pointed us to places to eat. He also took us back to the ferry when it was time to go - then went above and beyond by delivering back to me my charger and cables that I left behind. We wholeheartedly recommend The Bay Motel.

With sea views, Church Hill Boutique Lodge & Restaurant is located in Half-moon Bay and has a restaurant, free shuttle service, bar, garden and terrace. Great location, terrific hosts. Exceptional food. The accommodation had everything you could possibly want.

Stewart Island's iconic South Sea Hotel is located on the foreshore, in the centre of town. It is 2 minutes’ walk from the ferry and airline terminals. A wonderful three-star hotel with friendly staff, unbeatable location, and all you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed in a studio and it was wonderfully quiet at night. In the evening you can mingle with the locals in the pub downstairs. There is a good selection of food and drinks and the pub closes early so there's no noise. Everyone was helpful and ready for a laugh. Can definitely recommend it.
