We enjoyed swimming in the lake and did not miss any occasion to enjoy the magnificent kitchen which served 4 local fishes in a variety of ways. Tiraholm was a good starting point for excursions to the natural reserves in the neighborhood.

Apelvikstrand Strandhus offers modern, self-catering holiday homes next to Apelvik Beach, 3 km south of central Varberg. Each accommodation has a furnished patio, kitchenette and flat-screen TV. There was really nothing not to like. I did experience a little difficult checking in as it was late and dark, and signage leaves a little to be desired. I have to take partial blame though, as if I had read my emails properly I would have realised there was an app to download that helped matters. The cottages are unpretentious but very nice, the location is unbeatable if scenery is your preference, and I had the good fortune to visit in the off-season making my stay great value. I fully expect the prices to be dramatically different in the high season though.
