I am so happy I met Viviane and got to stay at Royalty air bnb. In the few hours I spent there, she simply lit up the room and did so much to help me feel at home. After a wonderful breakfast, she even offered to take me and three other guests to the ferry for a more than reasonable fee to continue our great conversations. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Information

Location and Transport

Vancouver International Airport is situated on Sea Island in Richmond, British Columbia. Downtown Vancouver is about 7 miles (12 kilometres) from the airport and can be reached in under 30 minutes via rail on the Canada Line. Taxis are available at stands located on level two of the arrivals area, and flat fares apply for journeys to specified zones in the city.

    I did not spend much time in Richmond this trip, as I came in to see the Lene Lovich show at the Rickshaw theatre in Vancouver. I am however familiar with, and drawn to Richmond, particularly for it's diversity in both people and entertainment options.

    Richmond is a very beautiful city.

    Richmond is a very beautiful city. It is very clean, and the natives are extremely helpful and friendly. The Public Transportation system is very comprehensive and very easy to navigate. {Elvin and Kitty August 2025}

    Very expensive. Especially the restaurants. Area was ok.

    Very expensive. Especially the restaurants. Area was ok. It was a reasonable ride to Vancouver, not far from the airport. We felt safe in the area where Sandman is. We used Uber to get to the cruise and the hotel shuttle fir the airport. I was surprised they didn't have a shuttle for the cruise ships even if they charged.
