I would like to thank you for the owner Anson he was so kind and nice guy and the room was so so nice for us, and the kitchen too, just like stay at my own house to make food. I will highly to recommend to all my friends if they traveling to Whitehorse.
it is a very walkable town with nice river walks to attraction such as the paddlewheeler, train station and just beautiful vistas along the might Yukon river. walk four block in any direction you will find food and shopping. the people are friendly and in the summer bring sunglasses and in the winter well it gets dusky to dark but still beautiful
Nice city, a good amount of hotels to choose from, but stay away from the Raven inn, Canada’s best value inn River view, family inn hotel, Choose hotel by what your budget will allow, rent a car up there stay a few days at most, then head out on the highway and see the areas up and around Whitehorse. In a weeks time (rental period) we saw Braeburn, Dawson city, Carmacks, Haines junction, Haines Alaska, drove a little bit on the Dempster highway, about ten minutes worth..lol..don’t want to have any problems to the rental, took the Alaska ferry from Haines up to Skagway, then up into the mountains from Skagway, carcross, and then back to Whitehorse.
While in Whitehorse we visited the Whitehorse Museum, the Beringia Museum, Miles Canyon and spent a few hours at the hot springs north of town. The museums are fabulous--so much interesting history in the Yukon, The canyon is a short drive from town and is very interesting--there is a suspension bridge over the river and the river runs very fast through the canyon. The hot springs are fabulous but a bit pricey. There are several different pools with varying temperatures, sauna, steam room, and relaxation room. It was welcome after a travel day. We also drove down to Skagway Alaska to see this old gold rush town. There were several cruise ships in port and the town was very busy. The drive from Whitehorse and back was spectacular even in the rain.
Whitehorse has a definite vibe and we could've spent additional time there but we had a schedule so had to stick to it. We barely scratched the surface - there is alot to do in the region and the restaurants we visited were terrific. We loved Burnt Toast, Klondike Rib & Salmon and Woodcutter's Blanket. The people are warm and friendly - and the city is really set in amazing geography!
The scenery is beautiful - mountains, lakes, rivers. We enjoyed riding around the wildlife reserve on their bikes to see the animals, especially the muskoxen. The Yukon river is amazing. large and fast flowing. Visited Miles Canyon Suspension Bridge, Fireweed Market, Beringia Interpretive Center, MacBride Museum, Transportation Museum, Carcross, Haines Junction, Kathleen Lake, DaKu Cultural Center, Yukon Suspension Bridge. Enjoyed them all.
