Ballasalla (1.5 miles from Isle of Man Airport)
Situated in Ballasalla in the Isle of Man region and Castle Rushen reachable within 4.6 km, Trail Lodge features accommodation with free WiFi, a children's playground, a shared lounge and free private... Set in a beautiful woodland location. The property was beautifully furnished in a contemporary style. Clean, modern and very well set out. The bedrooms were great and the bunkbeds are certainly large enough for adults, there was even a hairdryer in the room, towels & a bathrobe. I would suggest flip flops or sliders for in the shower as it was also a wet room. The kitchen was well equipped with space in the fridge for all 4 rooms on the upper floor, we did write names on our milk etc to avoid any confusion. The lounge area is great just like being at home with two large sofa's, TV and fire, there were also a few sets of rustic tables for dining. Outside there is a lake and children's playground with a great coffee shop that also served snacks. You would definitely need a car if you stay here but there are plenty of walks. We will definitely come back with family again. The website DOES NOT show how wonderful this little Gem is and I'm very fussy when it comes to staying away:)

Boasting breathtaking views over the harbour, this luxury apart-hotel is ideally situated on the promenade in the commercial area of Douglas, on the picturesque Isle of Man. Location location location! Best spot on the Island for all things TT!
Castletown has everything you need within it. Good pubs and places to eat. To see the rest of the island you do need transport as there are many places of interest to visit including museums such as the TT museum at Ramsey or Murray's museum of around 150 motorbikes that comes with a cup of tea and welcoming staff who work there. Castletown is a great base for a visit to explore the island at your leisure and would recommend it to all.
The countryside was lovely and the outside of the two barns but inside was a disappointment. The 3 bed deluxe was not large enough for a wheelchair user. The bathroom & toilet was down the corridor and the kitchen was shared and not kept clean. Eathing out nearby was poor - only 1 pub with a very limited menu.
The little village of Ballabeg is in a very pretty setting. It does get very dark at night so carry a torch. The location was a short walk to the steam train station. You can catch the train from here and go to Douglas etc. Check the timetable as you need to stop the train. We ate at the pub in the next village, which was great food with a Sunday Carvery, there was also a small shop next door. We only had about 4 days touring the whole island, which for us was about right. The village is mainly residential so take lots of supplies with you or from the local shop. We had our van and cycles with us, to get out and about. The IOM is a wonderful, quiet island and will definitely return.
Nice location great bus service our reason for travelling to the Island was for the TT races easy walking distance to the track. Castletown is fairly quite more things to see in Douglas but as before it suited me for the location to what we went there to see
Been told by my first visit to reception the hotel had run out of food! I have never heard such rubbish… On my last day, I got a full in English breakfast… It was fantastic… The only day I ate anything there! Hi, felt sorry for the manageress… God knows what pressure she has to work under? I felt so pleased for her when she could actually offered me a breakfast. She was a different girl totally, and I felt sorry for her… It was a great breakfast… Bless her…
We were amazed at how special Castletown is! The castle is a must see; so well preserved, it is a constant in the background, with the sun shining on it. The community square in front of the George Hotel is a real asset, whoever thought of putting the ping pong tables, piano, table football and deckchairs is a genius! We loved the happy atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. The harbour is very picturesque, you can sit outside the Glue Pot in the sunshine and admire the view.. we enjoyed walking through the little streets with interesting and immaculate houses and also walking along the beach with rock pools and a number of light houses! We arrived by steam train and enjoyed trying out all the pubs in the town.
We were on the IOM for the TT and chose the Chesterhouse for our last night, as it was located close to Douglas ferry port. We found the hotel very clean and in good order. Our room was comfortable and conveniently situated near stairs on the first floor, enabling easy loading\unloading of our motorcycle luggage. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and we had dinner later in their restaurant. The staff were all friendly and helpful. All in all a good overnight stay. We would stay there again, if the opportunity presented itself.
Really well looked after location - very pleasant stay. Very friendly staff (but from my stay everyone in on the IOM is friendly :-) ). Very helpful staff. the finish on the hotel was old but very well maintained and you could see that the furniture and finish was made to endure - extremely good care has ben taken in the maintenance of the hotel. Really well worth the stay and would definitely stay again.
Douglas
While the apartment isn't brand new and glittering, it was absolutely very clean, comfortable, and really well located, just a 10 minute walk to the main bus stop and some very good restaurants. Yes, the shower door slides open, and the toilet seat is a bit loose, but these were very minor inconveniences for me personally and if I was to return to the IOM,I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Great Place for Short Stays as well as something that is budget friendly. Very close to restaurants and Bray Hill for the IOM TT.
Great hotel for a stay on IOM, friendly staff, clean, fresh but retaining a lot of its Victorian features 👍
