Ibis Luton Airport Hotel is a 10-minute walk from Luton Airport and 10 minutes' drive to Luton town center. This must be first choice for travellers. My flights late night OR take off early morning. Night arrival and bouncy blond receptionist nothing too much. Freezing outside. Hot tomato soup quickly warmed me up. While everything is 'basic', its all there. Electric appliances, special (and extra if required) bedding. King size bath tub to submerge into, and soak away the grime of a hard days work in London. 10 minutes walk (briskly) to airport, but by the time to go you are well fortified with a good solid breakfast. If the eggs are 'cool' and have stood too long, ask for fresh. This is a budget hotel not the Ritz but they DO try to give you the service of a 5* hotel. Its only a tiny reception and half the day no one is checking in so if you arrive and there's a queue of 5 or more, chill, drop your luggage, have a beer (or a tomato soup) 😄 you won't find a better home from home good times and difficult times. Thank you Ibis.

Where the Chiltern is situated is good,as for visiting the city itself we didn't go to it,i lived in Houghton Regis from birth to nearly 50 and luton doesn't offer a lot ,the arndale centre, we were told has quite a few shops shut, so stayed away it was a family visit stay
No food served in the evening. Had to drive into the town centre to eat. Accommodation of a very poor standard needs money spending on the rooms to bring them to what pub accommodation now has to offer. Very tired interior and no thought in the rooms for today's current traveller. Needs work space desk or area. Wi-Fi not very strong either. Sink needed the tap fixing as it was pouring out hot water. Shower had mould everywhere and no mirrors downstairs to get ready in the morning. I would not recommend this property for over night stays. The area and pub are lovely and traditional so this could, if money was spent, be a Jewell.
I went for family. luton is in south bedfordshire. it is largest town and suffers a bit of a decline. Near London espesc by train, St Albans and some villages (home of John Bunyan) and Dunstable (priory Church with extensive history: henry 1, 2, 8th). Easy to get to from M1. Near whipsnade zoo and woburn, and will be near new Universal Studios when it is built
Very relaxing and serene area . Easy access to both Luton and Hitchin the areas I needed to go to unfortunately the food service is restricted , there is no food served after 4 on Sunday when I checked in .
I am biased as I always travel by air to Luton Airport, so its a little difficult with very early or late flights to travel long distances to my final destination. Much more convenient to stay nearer to the Airport
Luton is pretty depressing. The town centre has very little to it and feels intimidating. I was alone with my three year old and despite this we were approached several times. One woman even started shouting and swearing at us when we didn’t give her money. Town centre is run down and limited nice restaurant/cafe options. The library has a bouncer, which probably tells you all you need to know. However there are plenty of green spaces kust of of town and loads of great little market towns accessible by bus and train (Hitchin, Harpenden etc). The plus point of Luton is that it’s extremely well connected by train and bus. The airport is also very close and not expensive to reach by taxi.
