There is quite a range of shops along the high street; the surrounding houses and streets are leafy and pleasant. I found a cafe for coffee / cake / light lunch and the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly. There is quite a lot of traffic which drives through. There are great activities though as I was visiting family I did not wish to pursue them - there seem to be bowls [on a crown green - not ten pin], golf, plenty of Churches. Perfect place to stay when on an early flight. Warm welcome and really helpful staff. Evening meal was lovely and hot. We were up super early and there was already a continental option breakfast waiting to help yourself. Hot and cold drinks and everything was fresh. It is very near the airport and public transport. Easy to get in to Manchester. Wythenshawe Hall and Park are worth a visit. Park lovely for a walk and Wythenshawe Hall has Open days on certain dates. Just a short drive from the hotel. Excellent park in the multi-store, only £2 for 2 hours! Coffee shops galore. Pefect for people watching, car spotting, and football player recognising. we stayed for airport it was close without using hotels, we used "The Flying Horse" for food as I didn't want to cook after a long day out, our sat nav was very good. didn't like the Asda nearby as it was very busy and security were having problems with youths. a little further out and all was fine. The Hidden cottage is on an estate surrounded by houses and bungalows, not posh but acceptable and very close to the Virgin media HQ, with a wood close by used by dog walkers. The garden is large and well maintained with a trampoline for children. A place that is well cared for and Racheal obviously takes pride in her work.
