Located in Luang Prabang, 6 km from Night Market, The Namkhan, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness centre and a... Our stay at The Nam Khan Resort was absolutely amazing from the moment we checked in until the end of our visit. We spent three wonderful nights there, and everything exceeded our expectations. The room had an incredible view, was spotlessly clean, and we adored the refreshing lemongrass scent throughout. The soothing sound of the river flowing nearby made it a true retreat for us. We enjoyed a massage by the pool since the spa and wellness centre was under renovation, but it was still a relaxing and delightful experience. The in-room dining was excellent, and the staff was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and attentive—truly some of the best hospitality we've encountered! We were so impressed with their organic vegetable garden and the way they grow fresh produce to serve their guests. As someone who also makes and runs a soap and skincare business in Australia, I was thrilled to see they create their own natural shampoo and shower gel. It made me so proud of Laos and The Nam Khan Resort for this sustainable and thoughtful touch. There were plenty of activities to enjoy at the resort, and we hardly felt the need to leave. Although the weather was a bit cool for swimming, and the sauna was still under renovation, we had such a great time relaxing and exploring the premises. Overall, we are incredibly grateful to the Nam Khan team for taking such wonderful care of us and making our stay unforgettable. We will definitely return the next time we're in Laos! Warm regards, Susen & Steve

Situated in Luang Prabang, 1.6 km from Night Market, Madilao Hotel features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. We had a fantastic stay at Madilao! The hotel is fairly new, with spacious rooms, large and incredibly comfortable beds, and an excellent shower. The pool is amazing, and the gym and breakfast were both great as well. We initially stayed for a week and enjoyed it so much that we returned for another two nights. Although it’s about a 10/15 minute drive to the city center, getting there is super easy thanks to the free shuttle service offered several times a day, or you can book a private transfer without any hassle. We would definitely come back and highly recommend Madilao, especially if you’re traveling with kids. Everything was just spot-on.

We visiting the KuangSi Waterfall and had more fun than expected. Climbed to the top, did the ziplines, enjoyed some drinks at the treehouse to cool off and then swam in the chilly waterfall pools for a really refreshing dip. Loved the drive through the countryside and ate lunch at the Bamboo Farm. Bamboo tea was delicious. Stopped by the Buffalo Dairy for some cheese and ice cream, but not sure if I would do that part again, since it was nothing unusual. Visited the Hmong Village and really enjoyed that interaction. Definitely make that stop to get an up close, personal look at the Hmong life. Next time, we will visit the Ou Caves and take the train to other cities, as well. Plan enough time to see Laos!
I was working remotely while in Luang Prabang so six days was good as my time to explore was limited. If I had unlimited free time, I’d say that 3-4 days would be sufficient. Luang Prabang feels unspoiled and charming, very laid-back. The night market sells touristy goods but it was fun and there is no hard sell taking place. There is a great choice of restaurants to cater for all tastes.
Luang Prabang surprised me, it's quiet slow pace, morning and night markets, great experience. Mekong River is majestic. If you like the Buddhist philosophy this is your destination. I booked 2 nights and stayed 6
The friendliest, coolest place on Earth. There are plenty of places to go, to visit, to do. More importantly, it is a great place to just BE! A visit to Luang Prabang for me would be incomplete without at least a couple of visits to Big Brother Mouse where tourists can meet and chat with locals - English speaking practice for them, cultural learning for visitors! Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary is a great place to visit. For bars, restauants: I recommend the Rainforest Bistro and Bar, Khaippen Training Restaurant, Alounvasath Bakery Restaurant, the barbecue restaurant oppositive Wat Visoun and the B82. Please, please, please DO NOT RIDE ELEPHANTS!
Our wallet was stolen on the first day we arrived luangprabang, we lost some Thai baht worth around usd500 not a big deal as we stopped our cards right away. The thing is if something happens to you, you got robbed/raped got sick or whatever unfortunate thing occur to you, never expect police or authorities to come to help you as there's no one willing to do the work. However, Laotian people are mostly kind so if you plan to go I wish you a lot of luck.
We really enjoyed just walking around the old city. It's small and yet we still ate a different restaurant for every meal, had cocktails at sunset by the river several times, went to beautiful waterfalls, visited the buffalo dairy farm and went to several Wats. Luang Prabang was not part of our original SE Asia tour but we ended up going and so happy we did. Jungala Lounge bar for food/drinks on the Nam Khan River 360 Sunset for an inexpensive bottle of bubbles at sunset Tangor Bistro, had amazing lentil hummus and chicken strips unlike any I've ever had Tamarind is a teaching restaurant with excellent local food Khaiphaen is also a teaching restaurant with amazing food for a great price. Sena Steak House although we didn't have steak is good Manola Cafe had good pizza
