we always come down to Williamsburg a. twice a year for bowling tournaments, I love it down here! there are plenty of places to eat, Busch Gardens is down the road and around the corner from where we stayed this summer. The outlets are right across from the bowling alley. And of course there is Uncle Daves Kettle Korn in all kinds of flavors. There is just a lot to see and do in Williamsburg Va.
Very comfortable stay. Room was great. Our floor smelled like someone was smoking weed. Very clean. Staff was very nice. Didn't care for the $12 per night parking fee. Says on the website that parking would be validated, doesn't mean that you won't be charged.
As someone who went with 3 of my adult friends, I really think this sort of place suits families better. We went during the week so Colonial Williamsburg felt empty. And having been to other historical places, honestly felt a bit artificial. The actors were great, this is not about the actors they were phenomenal. We also visited Jamestown, which was more enjoyable but again, I think these attractions are best suited to families with school-aged children. Personally, I would recommend the Jamestown Settlement over Historic Jamestown. The museum there was incredible!
Wonderful place for multiple reasons! First, it's engagingly historic and truly gives you a feel for a colonial town. The people staging the reenactments and the docents are terrific and really add to the depth of the colonial experience. The stories of our colonial government are informative and provide a perspective for our modern life. Secondly, it's just a beautiful place to visit and experience. It's like a wonderful walk in a park with something to see wherever you look---historic houses, cobblestone pathways, mature trees and plants of every variety.....even an old cemetery. We've been there many times and sometime just go to "be there". Thirdly, the merchant square area has some interesting stores and eateries to take a break from the touring. A bottle of wine with cheeses can be enjoyed in the lovely square area. The vibe is very friendly with locals walking their dogs and engaging with the tourists. All in all a great place for young and old. You can take from it whatever you wish......a passionate exploration of history......or a gentle walk in a beautiful colonial town.
The great Wolf lodge indoor and outdoor water park is an amazing place for the whole family to go. And if you can't afford a room, you have the option to basically lay away the room. You can reserve it and make payments over time. The rooms there are amazing. The water park is amazing and anything else that you need to do is easily located within 10 minutes of everywhere?
Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square-absolutley loved the Mellow Mushroom! Great atmosphere for laughs with the family and delicious pizza! We got there late, so most places (aside from foodies) had closed but it would be fun to just walk around, and see all the neat things in the diffrent shops.
