I absolutely adored everything about Barracudamaio. Mona and Christophe have worked so hard to create a beautiful space for an exceptional travel experience. It's very close to a secluded beach where you can relax and have some alone time, as well as see the incredible turtles (with Christophe as your guide). I was taught upon arrival how to take a 'bulea' (free ride) with the locals, so very easy (and safe for solo female travellers) to catch a lift to the next town. The accommodation is exceptional in itself and is well thought out with sustainability in mind and furnished beautifully. They both shared their story over delicious dinners (thank you, Mona) about their journey in building Barracudamaio, and I think it's such a beautiful way to live and to help travellers understand the integrity behind creating a sustainable and welcoming space like theirs. Mona and Christophe are such wonderful people with a lot of life experience, and I am so glad to have had the chance to meet them on my travels. Oh and I love their two dogs, Lulu and Irmã. I am returning for my second stay next week - looking forward to seeing them all again! :)

We had an incredible one-week stay. The property is located in the "Stella Maris" condominium, which from my experience having visited Maio multiple times is probably the best of its kind on the island. The apartment was well-equipped, with a comfortable bed and all the essentials. The condo itself features a fantastic pool with stunning ocean views, which was the highlight for us. The price was fair, and the host Odair was communicative, quickly addressing any minor issues that arose.

    The location is pretty central in Vila de Maio, Pompeo e Nanda welcomed us and made us feel at home. The apartment we stayed in was comfortable and close to the beach and the main street. There is a beautiful garden and a terrace where it is possible to have barbecue

    The owners were simply amazing, always eager to support us. The apartment is clean daily by awesome staffs who take their time to leave it super clean. It is also an ease walk to everything.
