We stayed here on the Kumano kodo trek. The location is less than a km from the path so it's easy to find. It was exceptional with lots of touches that made it really comfortable after a day of hiking. The deck is great for an afternoon in the sun. Place was very clean, with shampoo, towels and even snacks provided. We almost didn't want to leave. The owner was available via message to help with anything.

What a great stay!! We did the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage ending at Nachi Falls. So happy to find this spot, it is a 15min walk down the road from Nachi falls. There’s not much around to be honest, but we just wanted a quiet spot to sleep. Our host was so lovely, we asked for a dinner bento and breakfast and she personally went to the market and got us those, as well as a bunch of snacks. Just what we needed after an exhausting stay. She also kindly called for a taxi for us on the day we left as it was raining heavily. The house is lovely too!!

Staying in an old-school Japanese house was a great experience for a foreigner like myself. The house is equipped with everything you need, including a stove, pan, utensils, microwave, fridge, and a small oven. The location is also very convenient—there’s a supermarket just a five-minute walk away, and a bus stop only two minutes away. The bus takes you directly to many famous attractions, including the three well-known shrines, which is especially helpful on rainy days when you don’t want to walk far after getting off the bus. While the cleanliness isn’t at a “hotel” level (as it’s not a hotel), the owner was very responsive to any issues I had. On the first night, I realized that the air conditioner wasn’t working, which was frustrating given that it was 30 degrees inside. However, after I contacted the owner, they came the next day to check the AC. I didn’t expect it to be fixed immediately, but to my surprise, the owner brought and installed a portable air conditioner while I was out sightseeing. I came back to a “new” AC! Overall, I had a pleasant three-day stay.
