I loved Salamandra!. The property/garden is absolutely beautiful and cozy with a huge variety of lush flora. Everything was super clean and all four breakfasts I had were different and delicious. Jose and Silvia are extremely attentive hosts... they're simply the best. I would return in a heart beat.

Great breakfast. Very friendly host. For most of the night a very active firefly flew around the roof of our tent (outside the mosquito netting) which gave a very romantic feel to our stay :)

This was an absolutely lovely place for our first night in Costa Rica! Charming little place by the river, with a small but beautiful garden. We were delighted to see the red eyed tree frogs in the garden, and their eggs hanging from a leaf above the pond. The garden and the whole grounds are full of beautiful flowers and plants and the place has a feel of a piece of paradise. Our hostess was super nice. Breakfast was excellent albeit somewhat on the smallish size. The view in the morning, when we discovered that our cabins are right on the cliff overlooking the river - was stunning! The cabins are rustic, but the sheets were clean and there was warm-to-hot water (depending on the strength of the flow). All in all highly recommended!

The location is superb. You are surrounded by nature. You will likely see and hear the howling monkeys and some nice birds. Also, it is great that you can prepare food on a wood-fired barbecue so make sure to bring some meat. There is also a place where you can make a bonfire in the evening. Throughout the day you have a river for yourself with refreshing water in which you can swim. The hosts were a very friendly couple and made nice breakfast at anytime. If you do not speak Spanish it is no problem, because Google translate can be used. The rooms and bathrooms itself are very clean and up-to-date with new equipment (e.g. Airco, Rain-shower) I would highly recommend to stay here as it is a unique experience in Costa Rica. It is recommended to bring some cash in advance for the payment, because the ATM in the village nearby did not worked for me.
