I've never been more happy to leave a review than for this place. A proper hotel the likes of which you seldom get in this day and age. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable, sturdy beds, pleasant shower, hot chocolate and plenty of teabags, milk and sugar in the room, topped off with a hearty cooked to order breakfast. Put frankly, if this hotel is profitable, then the vast majority of others have zero excuse for the standards they've let slip for decades now. Being away from home on business is always miserable but this hotel took the edge of it just a little, so a big thanks from me.

Wasn't expecting air conditioning in an older building like this, really helped because we arrived during a bit of a heat wave. Nice touch to have a continental breakfast delivered to the room in the morning. Very close to the city centre and walking distance from the cricket ground - we had come to visit some friends and see Kent vs Durham.

The property was neat, clean and tidy. It is a classic, quaint, boutique hotel. The family running it have taken the trouble to hang original art and purchase rugs matching the historic property. Lovely garden to sit and relax. It’s just beautiful.
