Very nice located homestay. We have been the only guests. The host was super nice. She offered breakfast and dinner, both very tasty and individually prepared. It was a kind of small boutique hotel experience. Good place to discover the national park around. Having a car is helpful to discover the surrounding.

Friendly guy at check-in offered us an upgrade from shared dorm room to private apartment upstairs, because we arrived earlier than expected as the Ebino plateau was closed due to snow. The apartment was fantastic, very cosy with lots of facilities including full kitchen with cooking oil, seasoning, crockery and cutlery. Also heated chair in the living room and comfortable mattresses on the beds. Parking right outside the building. Supermarket just 2 minutes walk away and a Lawson next door. Overall a great stay and we wish we could have stayed for longer.

We booked a villa with onsen. It’s not big but quite comfortable. We went there in winter time, it’s equipped with air conditioner, and the bedding is thick enough to keep us warm. The most interesting thing is they sent the breakfast to our room at 8:00am which wake us up. The surrounding look like still under construction, but we went sight seeing whole day which it didn’t brother me. Aeon is in a 3 minutes drive, with few restaurants there. I highly recommended if you drive and prefer a quiet place.

Very elegant Japanese style house. I had it to myself as no one else was staying. The breakfast was the most delicious wholefood bento from a local cafe. The bed was really comfortable. Very nice and quiet. It's kind of a nice combination of a luxurious atmosphere, excellent decor but with aspects of a budget hostel feel. (No private bathroom only showers). It would be nice in summer as there is a big tatami room with a view of the garden. This was the guest house annexe not the main loop hotel.

Tajima San prepares every morning a breakfast for us. He is very friendly and gave us good tips for restaurants and a local onsen in the forest. We enjoyed the home stay experience and the chance to chat with Tajima San.

This is very close to the airport (if you have a rental car) and is tucked away in a valley all by itself. We had room 7 facing the forest and we really enjoyed our stay. We found the owner to very friendly and we were able to have some good times there chatting with her. This is a simple husband and wife business and is not high end. The onsen is hot, which is great. There’s only about 10 cabins which is nice. It was very peaceful. We used this as a launch pad to other places and onsens in the kirishima area too.
