B&Bs in Tsurumai

The place is amazing in a beautiful Japanese style building on a mountain slope. We arrived with a rented car but I think it's maybe 20-30 minutes to the nearest train station by walk. I heard the train ride there is incredible as well in sakura time but didn't have time to try it. The host family lives nextdoor, but you have a big house and yard all for yourself with all the privacy. There is a cozy fireplace, kitchen with all the amenities, TV and also an outdoor bath tube which was one of the best things. Also the host can rent you a tuktuk which was a special and unforgettable experience to drive in the countryside. We were lucky to visit by the best sakura time and the weather was also good. I also recommend trying the mochi making experience with the host family. You can also have a kotatsu outside for the evening. I'm pretty sure if you decide to stay here you won't be disappointed.

Top location. The house has the typical old japanese flair and its close to the little supermarket and the train station. There are bycicle with surf racks and surfboards available. Takes you 5 min cycling to the surfspot. The host is an old surfer dude, super friendly and easy going. He will tell you were you should go for surf. If I will visit the area again I would definitely go to this hostel again.

Since I was separated from my daughter, I had to stay alone, but I was able to stay in the same room without having to move.

Very comfortable and interesting place with lots of eclectic art. It is like staying at a friends house.
