The staff was very polite and helpful. They give us a lot of advises about Nepal and helped us contact one bus company for a trip to another city. The breakfast was just perfect, I had hunger after 6 hours after I have taken it :) I liked the view from the rooftop. The hotel is right in the center and the sightseeings. Wifi connection was strong, and even I had a video call with 10 people while there, without any interruptions. I liked also the atmosphere in the city and around the hotel.

Shekhar is a special person that has created a special place for travellers to come together, share and find a likeminded community which this place seems to attract. On arrival I felt immediately at peace as it feels like home and has the best energy. Shekhar is very generous with sharing his time to show guests around the hidden gems of Bhaktapur and knowledge of Nepali and Newari culture. Staying here wasn’t just a place to sleep, it was an experience of getting to really know the city and Nepali way of life. Staying here also reminded me of the important things in life - good company, community, music, spirituality, art, food, learning and exploring. It was one of the highlights of two months travelling Nepal which speaks volumes :)

We stayed four days and felt warmly welcome every day. We were very surprised how clean, quiet and well organised this cosy place is. Everything is done with love: breakfast, afternoon and night tea, cleaning of rooms, providing advice for places to visite, and to go for Lunch and dinner, and books to read. Thank you very much for accomodating us, for this excellent experiance, we would come back any time. The family went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend this place! Staying at Peacock Guesthouse was an experience on its own! It is a piece of a medieval fairytale brought into the modern world. Not only you feel the history everywhere, but also the artistry of Bhaktapur craftsmen: the wood-carved windows overlooking the oldest square of the town and the temple, the wooden artifacts in the cute courtyard, the craftsman himself working next to the restaurant…. We marveled every minute of our stay there, we tasted a good amount of their great food and we spent literally hours observing this lively town from our windows… If you are in Bhaktapur and you like living in history and art, look no further.

This lovely guest house is managed by a charming couple Laxman and Sanu who try so hard to make a guests stay perfect. The location is in the heart of Bhaktapur far away from tourist hotels, here you are really immersed in the community while still enjoying home comforts. Dattarraya Square is less than a five-minute walk away where there are a couple of recommended restaurants. We had a spacious room with balcony. Hot water always available and while the room was quite cool in the evenings, a portable gas heater is provided which was very effective. No kettle in the room but there is kitchen on the top floor to make drinks. Good breakfast each morning which is European style with boiled egg, yoghurt and fruit, cheese, tomato and cucumber slices plus bread and jam, juice and coffee.

An outstanding place to stay! The rooftop has extraordinary views of the mountains and is filled with sunshine. Keepa and her son are kind, generous and helpful hosts. They upgraded my room and helped with practical issues like transport and laundry. Nothing was too much trouble and Keepa was delightful to talk to. I felt like family. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on in Nepal! The location is fantastic.

Very welcoming & kind family, they shared their culture with us and we felt really like a part of the household. Rooms are clean & simple with everything you need (hot shower, fan, some storage room...) rooftop with view over the town & temples. Perfect location just behind Nyatapola temple in the center of the town.

    Sumira and family were so welcoming and helpful. I really felt like being home. Perfect family guest house to stay in Bhaktapur. They helped me beyond the needs. The room was super nice and confy. Quiet street right in the city center, like an oasis. Beautiful terrace too. No doubt I will come back.

    This was my second visit to the Peacock and it was just as charming as I’d remembered. It’s a very old house with a warren of rooms and walkways leading to them all. Each guest can squirrel themselves away from the hubbub outside (it was Nepali new year) and rest in the cool and quiet. The owner and staff go out of their way to help with any query and the breakfast and coffee are delicious (esp the royal curd). I’ll be back again one day, I love watching Bhaktapur from the steps outside the house.

    Great location next to the main square, friendly and welcoming staff, spacious comfortable room with attached bathroom. Excellent value for money. Good food (cheap too), though it took us a day to realise that they operate as a restaurant too, they are so laid back and unassuming!
