Offering suggestions and help for every travel question (and we had many)!! Breakfast was ample and covered all the bases as to offerings that were fresh and yummy! Our airport transfers went smoothly. Excellent drivers in both directions. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our days here and highly recommend Casa Alegria as a great base to visit the northern end of Santiago.

Tugged away from the rest of the world, Ja opened a room of her ancestor's home to guests who would like to experience what it's like to live in Cape Verdian raw country side - which includes being offline, taking cold showers with a bucket and a mug, sleeping in pin drop silence (apart from the roosters), walking in the steep hills, etc. One can go with a shared taxi until the roundabout of Sao Domingos. From there, a local can come and pick you up for 300 ESC, or you can walk (it's absolutely safe, the locals are friendly and helpful, location on the map is accurate). They can also drop you to the airport for 1500 ESC, and it just takes 30mins to reach. Ja knows how to cook for vegetarians, too. She is a witty and interesting host to talk to. I am still amazed at the purity and simplicity of this place, and hope to be back one day.

The guesthouse is very clean, nicely decorated, and located in a quiet but central area of Praia. I really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere. The host, Eddy, was incredibly kind and helpful. He made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. On top of that, he is an amazing guide — he organizes tours to the most beautiful and unmissable places around Praia and Santiago Island. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a good bed and a strong shower. I also enjoyed the coffee corner and the little touches that made the stay special. I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Praia. Thank you Eddy!
