The Hollies is a beautiful house full of character, beautifully decorated with fabulous (in our view) art, a lovely sitting area downstairs and the two guest bedrooms at the top of the house. We stayed in the King bedroom which was spacious, beautifully furnished, incredibly quiet and had an excellent shower in the en-suite. Debbie - the host - couldn’t have done more for us. She gave us a lovely welcome and we sat down with a cup of tea to chat about breakfast and anything we needed to know about the gorgeous little town of Uppingham. We’d booked a table at The Lake Isle restaurant and had a very good meal there. Breakfast at The Hollies was like everything else about it - excellent. Ranging from homemade granola, fruit and yoghurt to a delicious (my husband testified) full English! I don’t eat meat and was offered smoked salmon, eggs, etc. It was one of the best B & B’s we have ever stayed in (and we have experienced many)! Thank you Debbie for a very lovely stay!

Each unit includes a private bathroom fitted with a shower and a hair dryer, while certain rooms are equipped with a fully equipped kitchen equipped with a fridge. At the holiday home, units include bed linen and towels. The location was ideal for our cycle trip around Rutland Water. We only stayed for two nights, but found everything to be very satisfactory to enable us to do all that we wanted. On recommendation we enjoyed excellent meals at the nearby Horse and Jockey. The accommodation was warm; the big bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the lovely hot shower. Tom was helpful in downloading a map for us for the cycle route. As we left Parsnip Place, we planned a visit to Stamford, which was a huge mistake because there was a big fair taking over the town and it was impossible to park. However, we returned to Rutland Water and visited Barnsdale Gardens - stunning - don't miss it ! Although we had had a coffee and snack earlier in the tea rooms there, after our garden tour, we took our picnic along the shore at Whitwell and we were fortunate to have warm enough weather to enjoy an hour there before our journey home. We packed a lot into our short stay and found Parsnip Place an ideal location - it met all our needs.

The Barnsdale was simple luxury. Fantastic location near Rutland Water. Beautiful quaint rooms. All the staff from the reception, waitresses and cleaning staff were so friendly and welcoming. It felt like they were welcoming you to their home. The outdoor pool was only just recently opened and was very much needed after a few hot days in the English summer sun.

Well-kept, private garden area with seating. In quiet location on edge of Oakham, but easy 15 min walk into town, Attentive and friendly hosts, who are happy to help or keep out of your way.
The property is very quaint and was once a 16th century public house with a pretty garden and outside seating area set in the village of North Luffenham near Rutland water. Convenient to visit Rutland water, Stamford, Burghley House, Belvoir Castle as well as surrounding charming towns and villages. The host was very friendly and informative and provided a good cooked breakfast and continental option. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 2 nights.
excellent breakfast. hot and tasty, lots of choice, fresh fruit, cereal, toast and cooked food.
Great location and grounds. Very quiet too and nice area to walk from.
Large room very clean. Large comfortable clean bed. Large comfy sofa. I requested a room at the end of the coridoor so as not to be disturbed by other guests walking passed, and the hotel obliged. The room was very quiet and I had a great night's sleep. They provide a wall heater if it's too cold, and a fan if it's too hot. Free parking. Good Wi Fi. Good simple self serve continental breakfast included in the cheap price. Even use of the microwave any time if you wanted a microwave meal in the evening.
Convenient location, reasonably quiet, charming staff. I got what I paid for.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 'dog friendly' room and there were treats and a bed for the dog. The hotel was so quiet with no traffic noise. We had an excellent breakfast. Overall it was a really nice, peaceful place to stay and we are planning to return.
Great location for a really good boutique type hotel.. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The room was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Finch's is very popular for Sunday lunch, but we were told they always keep a table for room guests, which they did. Excellent breakfast, Eggs Benedict recommended!
