Zapote Tree Inn is located less than 16 minutes from Flores' airport and 4 minutes away from Flores island by boat, located at a privileged point to appreciate sunsets and sunrises overlooking the island and the lake. The Guatemalan man who works there is incredible. I wish I had caught his name. He was so nice and helpful during our short stay there. A very peaceful hotel with views of the water and a lush garden. I didn't see any toucans but my partner saw one perched next to one of the rooms in the morning. We had the traditional dinner with eggs, fried plantains, beans, cheese, toast and fruit- it was delicious! We had the same for breakfast and it was the perfect meal to get us through Tikal. The prices for the room and the food was all reasonable. There is an extra charge to use AC but that's across the board in the area. Highly recommend!

I cannot recommend this place enough!

The guest house is equipped with a flat-screen TV. Towels and bed linen are provided in the guest house. Staff were friendly despite our language difficulties; they made contact the day before and on the day I arrived to guide me to the residence. It was good to have a small communal kitchen, ideal for making breakfast and a drinking water dispenser. Nice little rooftop for looking at the river but it could do with a bit of cleaning and rubbish removal. The bed was quite comfortable. I chose an area away from the busy part to get a good sleep and that paid off; it's at the top of the island but only a 6 minute walk back to the island entrance. Note: if you are walking to the apartment, go around the perimeter, not up the middle, which has uneven cobblestones and steep inclines. Staff were quick to fix things when the water stopped working at one stage.
