He showed me the village, helped organize a snorkel tour and had a lot to tell about the history of the place and the village. Wasini island is stunning with coral reefs, mangrove forests, dolphins swimming nearby. Overall, highly recommended!

After 2 months of traveling in East Africa, I needed a retreat to rest and enjoy nature for a few days. My room was spacious and the bed comfortable. There is a large terrace upstairs with beautiful views of the surrounding forest where they give yoga, meditation and sound healing classes. I started the morning with yoga every day lead by one of the two owners alternately. As a vegan I didn’t have to go out to restaurants for breakfast or dinner because their food was freshly prepared, well balanced, reasonably priced and delicious. I walked to the pristine beach which is about 1 kilometer away. A lovely walk through well maintained dirt roads and lots of greenery surrounding huge mansions. I felt safe walking during the day but I didn’t go out at night. They are happy to arrange tuktuks or motorcycles if you prefer not to walk. The highlight for me was to play drums with the Kenyan owner who also provides tours in a comfortable car. He has created a cultural group of young men from his village who are training in drumming, singing, dancing, acrobatics, and yoga. It was great to see them at their daily practice in the afternoon, entertainment on site! They are welcoming and respectful of guests privacy but I strongly recommend you join in the fun. I was grateful that they don’t allow parties or alcoholic beverages to maintain their healing and relaxing concept. Follow them on Instagram for special retreats, and class schedules. I highly recommend the Yoga Barn for anyone who enjoys a relaxed, quiet, rustic, natural retreat run by two caring hosts.
