I had an amazing stay at the guesthouse! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The location was perfect, offering both tranquility and easy access to local attractions. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Amazing, cozy apartment. Historical house but clean and fresh. Everything necessary included (fresh towels and bed linen, coffee and kitchen accessories). We came with a dog and were greeted with two other friendly dogs and a curious cat. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly, definitely recommended!

A Perfect Solo Escape – 10 Stars Aren’t Enough! I stayed here alone this summer, hoping to unwind, recharge, and enjoy a bit of peace by the lake — and this hotel exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into a dream. The setting is unreal: a crystal-clear alpine lake nestled among towering green mountains, with summer sunshine sparkling on the water and wildflowers blooming everywhere. The view from my room — especially from the balcony — was absolutely breathtaking. I often just sat there in silence, taking it all in. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between comfort and charm. It felt cozy and welcoming, but still elegant. Traveling alone can sometimes feel awkward, but here I felt completely at ease. The staff were genuinely kind — always helpful, never intrusive — and made me feel like more than just a guest. Every morning started with a peaceful breakfast overlooking the lake, and every evening ended with a sunset that looked like something from a painting. I spent my days swimming, walking along the shore, hiking nearby trails, and simply enjoying the stillness. This place gave me exactly what I needed: space to breathe, think, and just be. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you — the kind that changes you a little. If you're considering a solo trip and need beauty, serenity, and a true escape — look no further. I’ll be coming back for sure.

Amazingly restored historic building with a very relaxed and friendly, yet privacy respecting way. Common areas are beautiful and the whole place is an inspiration. Podenhaus is located comfortably in Bad Aussee in a way that it’s easy to make day-trips to nearby lakes. Bicycle rent is also nearby. Will surely be back!

    We (four) stayed for a New Year's vacation. The appartment has everything you need for a short say, including a small sauna in the basement. Located in a quiet place, although not far from center of the village. The owner is a lovely lady who was willing to answer all questions and help. Can only recommend it!

    Fantastic, clean and very spacious apartment in an absolute stunning location with great views of the mountains. It is very close to the lake (5 minutes walk), and two minutes to the main street of the village. We liked the place very much and the Altaussee area is one of the most beautiful spots in Austria. We will certainly return in the future and can highly recommend Haus Sonja!

    We loved our stay here. Large room with separate kitchen and dining with views over fields and the town to snow covered towering peaks. 5 min stroll to the Lakeside and shops and restaurants. We walked several nature trails nearby and caught the small local bus to check out neighbouring villages. One of the most homely places we’ve stayed at in Europe and our host was most kind, picking us up from the train and he was a delight to chat with.

    Everything was beautiful, the villa is amazing , the furnitures are beautiful, the facilities of the villa, the bathrooms, the kitchen 😍 with all high quality equipment everything was clean and at the highest level, tidy, Full wardrobe of tissue a lot of towels. Sabine the supervisor of the villa met us with kindness and explained to us the villa in detail and the places near the villa. Also, she always checked on us and brought a birthday cake for my daughter which I appreciated a lot ❤️ also there are kindly neighborhood

    The Host was really amazing, we reached the room in the evening, the room is located in a quiet village near Puchem and the host dropped us off to the nearest town for dinner and she picked us back from the restaurant back to the room once we were done with dinner. The stay has a pool table ,dart board, foosball table to keep us relaxed after a long journey. The next day we had a nice breakfast which is included as part of the booking and the host was kind enough to drop us of to the Hallstatt village which was nearly 23kms from the room.
