Very clean and cosy chalet with a nice view on the lake. Good communication with the host (messages) but we didn't meet her.

Fabulous stay. Spacious bedroom, the communal kitchen has good facilities, excellent breakfasts. The hosts were very attentive. Best of all, the hosts took time in helping us choose which areas and attractions in Orkney to visit. As a result we had the most wonderful time with our sightseeing, and really enjoyed our holiday in the Orkneys.

This was a super stay for our family of four in Orkney. Very clean and organised. All facilities we needed were there. Enough room for us and two kids (10 and 12).

Of all the places we stayed in our 4 weeks in the UK this was the best.The spacious rooms, comfort, facilities, kitchen, pantry items, maps, guide books, access to washing machine and dishwasher (with washing products!) Host was great and refunded me the extra I had accidentally paid when booking. The location although in the north is close to the main sights. You will need a car. We loved the views and rural aspect.

Fantastic week at Cottiscarth cottages on Orkney After a lovely warm welcome from Eileen and Robbie, we settled in to our cottage, we were in Kestrel. The cottage had absolutely everything you could possibly need to make you stay perfect. The underfloor heating was fantastic. The hamper of Orkney products and Orkney butter and cheese was a lovely idea. We loved watching the sheep and cows in the field behind the cottage, from the kitchen window,almost as much as they enjoyed watching us! There was also a brown hare living in the field and we saw a female hen harrier from the front window. Kirkwall and Stromness are 20 minutes away. A walk up to the RSPB bird hide is worth the walk. The Standing stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar and Maeshow are only 15 minutes by car. Cuween Chambered Hill cairn is 10 minutes drive, and fascinating, you have to crawl through the entrance to the main chamber and you'll need a torch. The Churchill Barriers and the Italian Chapel are less than half an hour away. Make sure you carry on to St. Margaret's Hope and call in to The Murray Arms, the food is delicious. Will definitely be back to Orkney and would only consider staying at Cottiscarth cottages

The location near on the loch was perfect. Saw a few fish jumping and even had a go ourselves (to the detriment of our rod :P ). The property was a great size, cosy and snug. Slept like a log - enjoyed the silence. Kitchen was well equipped. A wonderful spot. Would stay there again!
