The tour with Jhony and Lana was great! They made sure everything was in order and made sure I felt comfortable. We spotted some orang utans and other monkeys, the food was good, and the overnight place was good as well. The accommodation at Jhony in Bukit Lawang itself is perfect as well, everything you need. Jhony makes sure you get everything that you need, and also helps you out with your further travels.

I have never felt so welcome in my life in a hotel. Adi, Coco, Sarah, Santa, Ellie, and everyone else. You are all amazing people. The amount of work you put in the Cheeky Monkeys and all this while wearing the biggest smile and showing the kindest heart is not to explain in words, only in experience. I loved my stay here. The location is incredible - literally within the jungle. The staff are friendly and helpful, and took me out on a night jungle trek. I have never stayed anywhere like this, and I would recommend Back to Nature to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the jungle near Bukit Lawang. Truly a one of a kind accommodation.

We have been travelling through Asia for 5 months and this was our favourite place. The owner Asniar is such a nice person and a superb cook. Anything we asked for she could help us with. Our kids helped her with cooking and she also took the time to bake a cake with them. We liked it so much, we decided come back a week later and stay there again for 5 nights. I would highly recommend.

I had a wonderful stay at Grandma guesthouse. Stayed for 3 nights, went on a multi day trek and then returned for one more night. My return felt like coming home. Yusuf and his family are very warm and welcoming, and will go above and beyond to make you comfortable. Organising the trekking and onward travel with Yusuf was super easy and very well organised. He also has a school for underprivileged children, which I went to visit and helped to teach English and played badminton with them. The girls also practise traditional dancing in the Warung connected to the guesthouse (which serves really cheap and tasty local food), so by staying here you will experience more than just the jungle, but also get an insight into the local community. A great experience that I’ll never forget. Thank you Yusuf and family!

Thanks to Fadil for our perfect stay in Bukit Lawang. We enjoyed every moments. Fadil took care of everything, from our pickup in Medan to our orang-outans trek. We had the chance to do the trek with Ibo as a guide. Really nice guide who took the time to answer all our questions. On top of it, we even had the chance to observe orang-outan from our terrace at the guest house. We would recommend for sure!

    I ended up staying at the other building the owner has that’s further up the street due to availability. The room was perfect, with an ensuite and fan and a really lovely balcony with a view overlooking the village. It was called ‘Dina.s’. I highly recommend staying there- the owner and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. I think this location is actually nicer than the main building people stay at beside the river.
