We had a great time with Clive and Chryshanthie. They prepared delicious Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast for us. We spent the evening together and learned a lot about Sri Lanka and just enjoyed spending time together. Clive also showed us his garden where we could see different plants. Mahamed and Fatima are the most wonderful hosts, and there is no doubt they enjoy having guests, and want their guests to be as comfortable as possible. They made our stay truly memorable, and I wish we had time to stay longer. I will for sure be back, this place comes highly recommended from me! Surroundings are gorgeous, hiking on every corner, it's quiet and calm, and you will eat like a queen with Fatima's food (she should have a restaurant). I haven't eaten that well in all of Sri Lanka, and it's been my most pleasant stay. If you are into nature, mental relaxation, great food, and slowing down a bit, do make sure to book at least two/three nights with them, and just enjoy!

A good location for a relaxing stay in Balangoda, Cottage Home Belihuloya is an apartment surrounded by views of the garden.

We stayed here for one night we enjoyed it so much we extended for another night. The host is a very sweet & warm person. He is an interesting man and keeps his home and the guest apartments very clean so much so I was impressed at how neat and well thought out the spaces were. They smelled very fresh as did the bed linens and towels 🙂 We stayed in the budget room equipped with two huge beds, fluffy pillows a fan, great shower with hot water & huge kitchen with a fridge. This was so needed and appreciated after spending the whole day exploring waterfalls and trekking through the stunning scenery that surrounds this homestay. The host has a beautiful garden with tropical flowers and spaces for guests to sit and enjoy the garden also you can enjoy the many authentic & delicious breakfast, lunches & dinners the host will provide at a very reasonable cost. He truly takes the hassle out of everything for you and will go miles out of his way for you. We felt very safe and extremely cared for here. There are gates with locks on for your scooter and your own private access to the building. This homestay is in one of the most beautiful and historical regions in Sri Lanka. staying at Forest Cyniciam homestay is like staying at your auntie's home. the location at 5 mins walking from the train station is perfect and the terrace offers a nice view on the forest and the sunrise, you’ll probably observe monkeys too! if you stay there, you have to have the dinner at the home, Mutu is an excellent cooker! we have eaten our best rice and curry (and god knows we have eaten a certain number here in Sri Lanka!). the room is super clean and feel holy, it’s way less moist than other place in Sri Lanka. finally it’s the best place to go to Horton plains, it’s less than half an hour by tuktuk and it’s affordable.

First the location, don't expect to be close to the city of Haputale but you can join it by tuk-tuk in 20min, that not a problem as long you searching a place for rest and make a break in your trip, it's like a green oasis, you are surrounded by hundred kind of tree and plants, monkeys, birds... The pool is coming from a natural spring and is a great way to relax after a hiking day. View from the saloon and the room is breathtaking, you feel privileged. Don't miss the breakfast and the diner, almost all come from the garden or the surrounding area. Ruwanthi is a formidable cooker and she will enjoy to provide you explanation of her garden and how she cook (with her mother sometimes haha) Also Michael is a great host and will have the pleasure to discuss with you of anything or to give you an answer at any question. Thank you you to all the people who are working with them and for them they all do a good job, very discreet and professional. Last word for the dogs, there is a number of nine, it you are a animals lover it's your place, if not you are warned :)
