The bungalows are large, clean, and beautifully constructed. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evening and showering in the outdoor waterfall shower. We were greeted with tea and cake. Dinner is spectacular vegetarian Sri Lankan cuisine. Go for the tours offered by the hosts as well. They are great. We did a 4 hour morning safari and saw many elephants, often without other jeeps around, as well as loads of birds, plus water buffalo and a crocodile. All in all, a wonderful operation. Perfect one night stop for your time in Udawalawe.

They helped us to organise tha safari, the driver was also absolutely nice with us, we had a great trip. Dasun's mom made us always a huge and extremely good meal. The cottage was also really nice and comfortable. We absolutely recommend the place!:)

Nadeeka made the best food we had in Sri Lanka and did not skimp out on the portions! The immediate area surrounding River Cottage is exceptional, we viewed a peaceful Buddhist temple, saw over 300 Indian Flying Foxes fleeing the nest at sunset and enjoyed a refreshing swim in Amila’s river.
