Small chalet run by a lovely couple, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Excellent sized clean room with mountain views. Breakfast was all fresh, majority from the couples garden or locally sourced. They even went out of their way to prepare an evening meal on our second night.

Amazing stay at La Baleine Blanche! The hostel was cozy and clean, and the rooms were very comfortable. The common areas were nice and had a lot to offer, from dart games to table soccer to more chill areas, and they also had a bar offering drinks until late in the night. The staff was very young and friendly, and made the stay comfortable for a solo traveller. I came there for skiing, and La Mongie was only 10-15 mins from the hostel. Would recommend staying here!

A really interesting old townhouse that has been brought back to life with care, style and a touch of quirkiness and humour. We were fortunate to be able to stay in a larger room than we had originally booked and it was really wonderful. Large comfortable bed and great pillows (including rectangular ones which we prefer to the large square French ones). Fantastic bathroom with large shower enclosure. All done with beautiful taste - even down to the reproduction light switches but also up to date with USB sockets in the same style. Lots of interesting spaces around the house and garden where you can sit quietly and read a book. Breakfast was fresh and generous and served on beautiful old crockery with proper napkins - nothing was too much trouble. Our hosts were both welcoming and helpful - and we enjoyed their two friendly Dachshunds too. Fantastic location for exploring the Pyrenees within easy reach of the high mountain passes (Tourmalet, Aubisque, Aspin) and also Lourdes or through the Bielsa tunnel to lovely Ainsa in Spain. The icing on the cake for us was the secure parking garage around the corner - which was the perfect town centre solution for our soft top Morgan.

This is a hidden gem not discovered enough by English travellers! The location is beautiful, at the end of a pretty valley with tumbling stream and surrounded by magnificent peaks of the Pyrenees. Horses and cows roam freely and the sound of their bells is heard every day. There is a myriad of walking routes for those of an energetic disposition or for those who want to explore the highest mountains of the Pyrenees this is an excellent base. The famous Pic du Midi is nearby and the passes over the mountains - Col d'Aspin and Col du Tourmalet, both famous Tour de France hilll climb stages - are absolutely spectacular. We found the area prettier and less crowded that the French Alps with amazing panoramic views from the Cols. Laurance and her team provide a very warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. (I have limited tastes in food and Laurance modified meal menus to suit my taste - try that anywhere else!!!) Bertrand looked after the dining area in the evenings and was interesting and charming. His travel tales enthralled us and like the owner spoke perfect English. Having worked with Jamie Oliver he was experienced and very good at his job. The whole team were charming and helpful. The accommodation is varied including Gite and spacious rooms. Everywhere is immaculate and very comfortable. Separating the accommodation from the restaurant/bar area guaranteed a quiet night.The menu was not huge but the food was good and it was altered for our taste. The wine list is extensive and all drinks are of a moderate price. There is plenty of parking and a garden area. We would like to thank the whole team at Le Chiroulet for the warm welcome and attention to detail.

    Location for what we needed was perfect, being close to Pic du Bigorre and cable car, easy drive up. Free onsite parking, comfy bed, availability of vegetarian food, Very clean. Quiet. Nice hosts. Llamas, goats and chickens to look at.

    The host met us at the property and we were able to park the car off the road, which was very useful. We used Campan for cycling up Tourmalet, so the location was excellent.

    I wanted to take the people in this hostal home to meet my mother. They were lovely. So helpful and so friendly. They treated us like we were their family. The welcome sign written into the bed cover was such a great touch. They surpassed my expectation and then some with the food. Just the best. If you like to cycle or motorcycle its location is perfect. Go there, its fantastic.
