Breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from with delicious homemade bread and jams. You sit in the hosts kitchen with them and other guests, it is such a pleasure. They are very friendly and helpful with information for restaurants and attractions. If we are ever back in the area, we will be booking into Le Pigeonnier

The breakfast was wonderful, fresh croissants and Karen's home-made banana bread. Karen was a wonderful hostess, telling us the history of the chateau, offering sight recommendations, and even giving us a parking pass for Rocamadour left by a previous guest. She contacted us to let us know we had left something behind, and asked us what we'd like her to do about it. We were thrilled by staying in the chateau and with the chance to walk to the neighboring hamlet (Gluge). I give highest recommendations to Karen and Queen's Escape! Thanks, Karen, for the wonderful stay!

If the medieval city of Martel is a crown topping this part of the Dordogne Valley, then Le Petit Moulin is the jewel in the crown. It's perfectly located in a quietish street in the main part of town, and offers lots of dining tables, a Wine Bar and shop, plus 5 delightful hotel rooms. We stayed 2 nights and ate 2 dinners at Le Petit Moulin and were enchanted by the staff, the menu and our room. Camille, Florian and the other waiters know the menu and make excellent wine pairing suggestions. The chef uses local, seasonal ingredients and creates stunning flavour profiles. The menu is relatively small, which is a sure sign of freshness and home-cooked food. There is a starter and a main dish of the day to round out the offerings. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner; reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity. Owner Adrien has recently refurbished 5 bedrooms in this corner building, and ours was exceptional. The modern design combined with some older features create a lovely blend and ensure your comfort. The bathroom is gorgeous with two sinks, toilet, and walk-in shower. The buffet breakfast features hand-crafted croissants and pains au chocolat such as I have never seen during over 40 years living in France. Martel itself is a real gem; lively old buildings and everyday shops that show that real people live in the town. There is a good selection of restaurants to serve the many tourists, but we did not feel like we were in an overly tourist-oriented spot. All in all, Le Petit Moulin provided us with an excellent base for eating, drinking, sleeping, and exploring the area. We intend returning!

We had an amazing stay! The place is super quiet and beautifully restored – a perfect blend of old charm (exposed stone walls!) and modern elements like glass and metal. Everything is stylish and thoughtfully done. Our room for four was really spacious and pleasantly air-conditioned – which made for great sleep and kept the bugs away. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, the pool was great with a nice temperature, and breakfast outside was just lovely: fresh orange juice, good coffee, and a tasty selection of local cheese and meats. The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. A special highlight: the sweet dog, which our kids absolutely adored. All in all, a fantastic stay – we'd love to come back! The breakfast was great - coffee, freshly squeezed juice, bread, jam, boiled eggs. The swimming pool was lovely and clean. The gardens were quiet and pleasant. The use of the kitchen was an added bonus - to be able to cook our own dinner. Good facilites. Easy walking distance from the center of Carennac. Highly recommend this place.

The fact that it was very clean and this is absolutely not always the case in France, very quiet, nice breakfast and on some evenings a very good quality three course diner. Lovely small villages to visit nearby. Beautiful rural region. Excellent quality for a fair price.

Received a very warm welcome from our hosts, who couldnt have been more friendly and approachable. A light supper was provided and we enjoyed the company of the other guests. Lovely bed, bathroom, gardens are lovely and although it is not much advertised, we enjoyed a cooling dip in the small swimming pool! Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.     Beautiful location right under the cliffs and next to the Dordogne River. Lovely swimming pool - my kids loved it and cooled us all down. We had an amazing meal on the terrace, not only did the look incredible but it tasted amazing. The staff were also very helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back

    The location of the hotel is fantastic. The staff were very nice and extremely helpful. The room with terrace was ideal, it was a shame we couldn't have enjoyed it more due to the rain. The meal in the restaurant was first class. We would not hesitate in staying again

    Breakfast was excellent. Home made bread and jam was delicious! Evening meal was excellent too. Could not fault it and would definitely return. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom nice and spacious. The hotel is ideally situated if you don't want to be far away from Martel but would prefer total peace and quiet and be surrounded by nature. Just wonderful. Perfect location for a wedding reception.... Cannot understand why it is only a 2 star hotel.....
