We usually stay at hotels so we're a bit apprehensive but had a much nicer experience staying here. Michael was a great host very warm, welcoming, kind and put me and my 2 kids (5, 7 year old) at ease felt like we were staying with a good friend or family. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and we had all the facilities we could want. We will all definitely stay again when we return to complete our climb up Croagh Patrick. Great property, lovely decorated, sea view included, we loved everything about this except the check in instructions which were long and non informative. We were left waiting in the rain because nobody told us to check in through the hotel reception. Better communication would be recommended

My friend and I stayed at Bertra House for our Croagh Patrick hike, and it was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we felt so at home thanks to Margareth and John John’s exceptional hospitality. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable and safe, even offering us rides to and from Croagh Patrick when the weather turned rainy. Their thoughtfulness didn’t stop there; they even dried our clothes after the hike! The location is perfect—just a five-minute walk to the beach and a quick ten-minute drive to the starting point of the hike. Bertra House itself is charming, cozy, and incredibly clean. It’s easily one of the safest and most welcoming places we’ve ever stayed, and we’re already looking forward to seeing Margareth and John John again next year! Highly recommended for anyone planning to explore the area.
