It was such an amazing, unique experience. The monks are most welcoming and accommodating. Ryokan style rooms with futons, which can be a bit hard, as expected (part of the experience). The place looks incredible, still attains so much history and ancient culture within its walls. It was incredible to be a part of that for a bit and attending the ceremonies was the highlight of our stay.

Sanso Amanosato was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

Beautiful house in a peaceful town. The house has a very comfortable and completely private upstairs that is very big. There’s a living room with beautiful tatami and a lovely view. The bedroom is fitted with comfortable western beds, a balcony and a projector for watching TV. There is a private bathroom. There is a lovely walk over the river just a few steps away. It is so wonderful to rent the bicycles for free and cycle around the quiet little town.
