Absolutely loved our stay in Relax Hotel Takayama. We were so surprised about how spacious the room is - it’s like 3 or 4 times bigger than the normal room in Japan. They also provided us with free drinks for both kids and adults! Location is superb - maybe 1-2 mins walk from the station. I highly recommend this to families. Thank you!

Beautiful place with amazing hot springs (for private use). Perfect for a relaxing stay, rooms were very comfortable and service was excellent! Tao (hope I’m spelling that right) was very sweet and attentive. We also had dinner and breakfast and food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this place! 👍

The hotel is very beautiful and the japanese room is amazing. Very clean and comfortable, with attention to every detail. Drinks are provided for free and you have a kettle in your room. What really made our stay exceptional is the staff. They are very welcoming and kind. They make you feel like home and help you have a traditional japanese experience. This place holds a place in our hearts because of how the staff treated us. They offered us fresh made tea when we arrived with snacks and explained to us the japanese breakfast. Seriously very attentive and generous. I highly recommend staying here. We stayed for one night but I think two nights is better to enjoy the hotel and beautiful Takayama.

Everything was perfect! We did a road trip through Central Japan and the Fairfield Hotels offered us everything we needed and even more! The Fairfield here in Takayama was one of our favourites!! + rooms are spacious, well designed and equipped. We absolutely loved this hotel. It's relatively small, so you get a lovely personal experience with kind staff and little treats like afternoon snacks and unlimited tea and coffee. The lounge-dining area is great to relax in after a day of sightseeing, with a view onto the little internal garden. Our room was fantastic; I chose a quadruple room to have more space. This was like a little apartment with its own lounge area, two double beds (plus two bunks above), bathroom with cedar tub, separate toilet and a nice view onto the garden. Perfect room for friends or family sharing. Modern interior design in charcoal greys, everything very clean and tidy. They will arrange breakfast for you from a local cafe, or you could bring your own to the dining area - there's a toaster, plates and bowls available. I didn't try their lovely sento bath, but we did use their handy coin laundry. The location is great, just 10mins from the station, then a bit less than that to the busy historic area. Lots of great restaurants nearby, as well as the 7-11 a few mins away. I would definitely return or recommend to friends!

Everything about this stay was amazing! The building was previously a museum, so you’ll be experiencing the local culture right in your home. We literally stayed in the old city—just one street away—yet it was a quiet and authentic area. There were nice cafes, restaurants, and a grocery store just around the corner. The house was warm in the winter and tidy. Highly recommend!

    Our entire stay at Ryokan Asunaro was magical. The hotel is beautiful and very traditional, the dinner experience is not to be missed, the location is ideal with a many restaurants around and a beautiful town to explore right at its doorsteps. The rooms are very comfortable and we found the laundry room very useful. The staff is curious and very responsive. We were treated with kindness and felt at home during our stay. The onsen is very clean and cozy. We can't wait to go back.
