The food was absolutely amazing and plentiful - I was served traditional Sri Lankan breakfast with hoppers, string hoppers, curry, and fresh tropical fruits that exceeded all my expectations. The portions were generous, more than I could finish in one sitting. Fonseka isn't just a host but a very knowledgeable tour guide who went above and beyond to enhance my stay. He recommended hidden local gems not found in tourist guides, shared fascinating historical details about Anuradhapura's ancient sites, and arranged transportation that made exploring effortless. His insights about the Sacred Bo Tree and Ruwanwelisaya stupa added tremendous value to my visit. My room was spotlessly clean with comfortable bedding and effective air conditioning - essential after long days exploring in the Sri Lankan heat. The garden setting provided a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation. I felt safe and genuinely welcomed throughout my stay. The value for money was exceptional considering the personalized service and included breakfast. The place is absolutely wonderful, the staff is lovely and they make you feel at home. If you want to do excursions like a tour in the ancient city or a safari: they will arrange it and they make sure you have everything you’ll need. The chef also makes delicious meals. Maho was our best stay in Sri Lanka within 4 weeks. Large rooms, great sanitairy, and a lovely bed with pillows feeling like clouds.

My wife and I spent two delightful nights at this enchanted resort. Sameera was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble for him. Breakfast and dinner were delicious especially when eaten al fresco. The tree-top accommodation was well appointed and charming. Going to sleep at night was blissful listening to the sounds of the forest. Chilling out here is so easy, but book early as there are currently only three lodges. Highly recommended.

From start to finish, our stay at Emerald was amazing! The room was super clean and comfortable, The bathroom was spacious with large shower and plenty of warm water The breakfast and dinner were both outstanding, with well-prepared local dishes that really showcased the flavors of the area. Really clean and quiet hotel on the edge of the town. They have free bikes which was great to cycle to the local restaurants and the ancient city. There is also free laundry, though I didn't make use of it in the end but good to know for fellow backpackers. Bed was comfortable, AC worked really well, hot shower. My room was spotless. The staff are excellent and extremely kind. I had an unpleasant encounter during my time in Anuradhapura and Lakshan was very kind. The owner Sagara also reached out to me which was so thoughtful. Highly recommend staying here, I felt safe there as a solo female traveller.
