SingaporeMy wife and I stayed at Redstone cottage for 2 nights and I am already thinking when we can go back again. This is a nice cottage in a land that we thought was quite big, along with a restaurant built with the traditional architecture of the area. There is also a tree house that we enjoyed climbing like kids. All the facilities were exclusively for us, so this was the perfect accommodation traveling as a couple.
The location is superb, next to a lake and surrounded by mountains and it was amazing to wake up and see the mountain view from the bed!
Hicking around the area made me feel like I was in a paradise due to the beauty of the nature and the sounds of the birds and peacocks chirping.
Next to this location there is a community of indigenous people that are quite involved in the running of the business. When we arrived an indigenous man received us wearing their traditional clothing and performing their traditional welcome greetings.
The service and the food were also excellent. During my holidays in Sri Lanka I got to like the local rice curry and it was at this location where I had the best curry in the whole trip. The chef also cooked western food that we enjoyed a lot, to the same quality that I find in the western countries.
We did other activities, including safari where we spotted wild elephants! There were several herds and it was amazing watching these huge animals in the wild. We also spotted deers, peacocks, monkeys, and multiple species of birds. They facilitated a person from the indigenous village to join us and he was giving so much information about the forest, while our tour guide was translating. We got to learn about the medicinal plants they use, the forest cycles through the seasons and how for generations they have lived in harmony with the forest.
We have traveled to many places but after staying at this place I can only underline our satisfaction, definitely beyond our expectations and a unique nature experience with all the comfort.
