We loved everything about our stay. The room was so nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious and we could choose exactly what we wanted to eat the day before. The staff was kind and helpful. It's an old house with a gentle renovation so the spirit of the history was preserved in a beautiful way. All in all we had a wonderful time at Thambu Illam.

Loved the place and Tony is a fantastic host that cares about guests having the best of their time while in Jaffna. Location was perfect, 50mts from the bus stop, in a quite area in front of a gorgeous park and a very short walk or bike ride from restaurants and the city centre and fort. Tony and his partner were super helpful with any matter or question I had. They helped me arrange a bicycle to go around town, a tuktuk tour of the northern side of the peninsula, and find good dining spots. Breakfast was good, based on local foods - they even made it take away on my last day as I had an early bus. I had a private bathroom, which was perfectly clean and the shower was great. Although my room was in the ground floor, I never had any issues with noise coming from common areas.

Absolutely loved my stay here! The staff and caretakers looked after me like I was family - particularly Robina and Spelwin. The breakfast was authentic, delicious and served with love. Staff were very accommodative of my needs and ensured to check in with me regularly. Facilities were clean and my room exceeded my expectation. Will definitely stay here next time.

It is an inviting, spacious, hospitable place to stay with excellent facilities - kitchen especially but in truth, all rooms. Location - 15 mins taxi Palaly Int Airport; 5 mins drive Inuvil railway station; 10/15 mins drive Jaffna; 5 mins drive Chunnakam. The actual physical location is attractive in its serenity.     The house is very clean and equipped with all necessary appliances. The rooms are large and there's plenty of space with 2 queen beds each. The bathrooms were again clean and the water pressure was good. The housekeeper was so nice and welcoming. He helped us with all our requests and questions. The location was ideal as well since it was only 5 mins away from Jaffna town by vehicle and there's plenty of good restaurants nearby.
