The cottage is operated by kind and lovely family. They messaged me in advance how they were picking me up at the airport, so I did not worry at all. At the cottage, there were enough heaters to warm up each room so I think it will be ok to stay in cold winter.

Absolutely everything! My friend and I booked a twin room, and we were both surprised by its hugeness as we stepped in. We were also able to arrange for airport pickup through the guesthouse at a very reasonable price. The pick up was painless and smooth - we waited a little bit for our ride to arrive, and then quickly learnt first hand about UB’s notorious city traffic. We were welcomed by our host, Boogie, who is calm, friendly and quiet-spoken, with a great command of English. Guests stay at the flat with Boogie’s young family of four, who are all very lovely and polite. We loved how quiet the flat is, which is located in a building about 20mins walk from the main square. Being literally downtown, most attractions are walkable, and there are lots of supermarkets and convenient stores, shopping centres, and restaurants not far from the building. The flat and building, and in fact most of UB downtown feels safe. We also absolutely loved the uniquely healthy breakfasts every morning! Everyday was different: scrambled eggs one day; delicious yogurt the next. One can see and feel the thoughtfulness and care that was put into the breakfast preparation. The breakfasts kept us warm and energised for many hours until mid-afternoon, and we were walking around in -30C! One can also have their laundry done for a small cost. If you’re after a good night’s sleep in a warm and welcoming home, a delicious and healthy breakfast the next day, and walking distance to downtown UB and most importantly, value for money, this is the place!

Anand and his team reliably organized the airport pickup and dropoff for us on the day of our arrival and departure, which was very convenient and definitely worthwhile. On the day of our arrival we landed very early meaning we reached the hostel well before the checkin time. As we were suffering from jetlag, we were kindly allowed to nap in the common areas until our room was ready. The room itself was simply furnished but clean and had everything we needed/expected. The hostel itself is located very centrally so that we could reach all main attractions on foot. For destinations further out, there is a bus stop just a few meters away, where most of the major buslines can be boarded. Finally, since the hostel is in a side alley to the main road, the room was relatively quiet for sleeping, despite the bustling city noise. Anand himself has also plenty of useful tips for planning your road-trip through Mongolia and can help organize tours, cars and drivers if you arrive without a plan of your own.
