I can be queasy about too much "wild" life, but the fly screens kept insects at bay very well (be happy if you have a lizard inside, they eat insects and are completely harmless). Cycling to Santa Catarina and visiting a roça on the way was the highlight of my trip to STP. As for food, I found the Italian food much better than the fish/seafood options... The drive over to this side of the island is incredible and well worth the effort. The accommodation here is of a very high standard - comfortable and very clean. The morning and evening views from the balcony are simply amazing. Great restaurant with a variety of meals and one of the best Caipirinhas I had on the island!
