I was allowed to check in 2 hours before the official check-in time. It helped immensely because I needed to store my luggage before hiking to a nearby Majuba mountain. My room was spanking clean. The hosts were accommodating. My bed had a heated mattress (a pleasant surprise) - it was a very nice solution in the middle of South African winter.
