Ibraheim and the rest of the team were exceptional, accommodating to our every need. We arrived much later than we expected and Ibraheim was very reassuring and took care of all the arrangements. He took time to sit with us after dinner and breakfast the next morning, he is an outstanding contact to have if you are in Oman and require travel arrangements to any part of the country - he supplied us with a route on google maps to see as many places as possible in the shortest amount of time! Highly recommend to look him up if you need any help with planning any part of your trip

The location is perfect, breakfast and dinner very fine, this camp gives you the feeling to really visit the desert, while making sure that you have everything you need. Very clean tent, shower and toilet, excellent bed, all perfect.
If one wants to experience desert in a very safe and still authentic way, do not book a chalet with pool, book a quality very large tent from a local person, Ali, who grow up himself, with his camels, in the desert, only 2 km away.

The units include a private bathroom, free toiletries and bed linen. My wife and I began to consider our options as we followed a stranger in a foreign country into the empty desert to stay at a camp we weren’t sure truly existed. Sure, Oman has ridiculously low crime rate, but the possibilities of what awaited us were endless. After a 20 minute drive through bedouin camps and an empty sea of sand we were relieved to find the camp as pictured on the site. However, shortly after setting up for bed, the camp was hit by a storm which was extremely rare to the area. I stood there for 30 minutes holding the pole of the tent from inside, so it didn’t collapse on us, as the rain and wind pattered the canvas. If I could go back in time to the moment we started our journey… I would do it a million times over. Thousand Stars is a passion project started by Ali and his companion, and cared for by a truly honorable and wonderful caretaker - Sadam. It is not a 5 star resort run by a board of trustees with millions of investment dollars. It is 3 men, who put their blood sweat and tears into each and every night. We started the evening off by having tea, coffee and fruits with Ali and discussing life. Shortly after, Ali ensured we were comfortable and left us to be. We were the only couple there that night so we had the whole camp to ourselves. There are usually 2-3 tents available per night. My wife and I spent some time chatting under the moonlight, but called it early as we saw a storm approaching. Sadam was working hard to cover the dining tent with a tarp so that we could be comfortable while eating dinner. The storm came, and yes, there was a short bit of time where I had to hold the tent up but this was no fault of the camp - just nature. Despite the storm, Sadam trekked over to our tent from his to make sure we were ok. Right after the storm ended I heard the roar of a car. It was Ali again, who drove all the way back just to make sure everything was ok.

Hamood is very welcoming. Spacious tents with real beds. Bathroom a bit basic but you can take a hot shower. We did a really nice jeeptour in the desert. Best food in Oman with absolutely stunning view! Only 4 tents, we were alone and Hamood took very good care of us. Thank you again for your hospitality! We had a great time!!
Amazing experience. It provides a genuine taste of the desert (great sights of dunes and starry nights, a sunset trip to the dunes with the extra perk of dune riding on a jeep), but also offers enough comfort for those who are not too keen on camping. The tents are large, clean and equipped with soft beds and even a small restroom (where you can truly shower under the stars). The staff is very nice. Absolutely recommended.
Nice small scale camp in the desert, only 6 tents. Very nice staff providing good service and friendly host. It is very magical to walk up the dunes and look at the sunset or sunrise. We enjoyed it very much, thank you! It might be good to know that pick up can be arranged for an extra charge from a meetingpoint (we were glad we did this as there are no signs to the camp). Also the dinner is not included in the price, however the food was very nice, so recommended!
Exceptional stay with even greater hosts. The camp is quiet, clean and serene. Located at the top of the dunes making sunsets and sunrises particularly accesible. The tents were made for a good nights sleep the authentic food was a treat. Fayez and the team made us feel at home. We will be back! Definitely the camp of choice if looking for a calm desert stay.
We had 2 tents for our party of 6. The tents were lovely with clean and comfortable beds and private bathrooms😁 Both breakfast and dinner was great. We did sunset camel trip which was well worth doing, and quad biking in the morning which the kids loved! Highly recommend this camp. Only 20 min into the desert, but it's in a great spot.
I can really recommend this desert camp!! Very nice location, next to the dunes to watch the sunset and sunrise. As it was only a few tents, it was very personal and did not feel touristy:) in the camp, we met other great people, it attracted some solo travelers and likeminded people I guess. Everyone was very happy with our choice for the camp: basic but not too commercialized and beautiful location. Value for money was great!
Loved everything about our stay in this desert camp. The drive there, the camp itself, the location, the buffet - it was a whole experience we will not forget. I was first not sure about the comfort of the “basic” sheikh tent but it was absolutely amazing!! We did not book any activity but instead went on a small walk along the dunes during sunset and it was just magical. According to the staff the pool of the private pool tents is heated, just in case this information helps anyone to decide.
Very accommodating and helpful staff. The camp is quite close from the city, which makes it easily accessible with 4WD car, while still being far enough to feel the desert vibe. The tents are comfortable and clean. Food was great (we had diner and breakfast). I also recommend going for dune bashing with sunset. All in all, good value for money 🙂
Very Traditional and comfortable tents and spaces. Wonderful sunset and sunrise on the desert. Welcoming Staff very gentle and kind. Saeed top! Massimo Simona Sofia Frank Paola Nicco
