We stayed at Orelia with our 9-year-old son and had a great time. The place is located about 20 minutes walk from the center of Badulla, which in my opinion is a perfect balance between peaceful rest and easy access to the busy and noisy city. Badulla itself is a fantastic place to experience real local life. It’s a typical Sri Lankan town with very few tourists, and the people are incredibly friendly. I highly recommend visiting Badulla if you're looking for an authentic taste of Sri Lanka. As for the accommodation, there are a few wooden bungalows to choose from. Some are small, some are larger — we saw three of them, and each had its own unique charm. The smallest one had an amazing view and a spacious patio. The two larger ones had a second floor with stairs that might not be ideal for elderly guests, but they also had balconies and patios. The staff were extremely helpful and always willing to assist — whether it was doing the shopping, ordering meals from local restaurants, or anything else we needed. I highly recommend this place if you're planning a visit to Badulla.

One of the most unforgettable stays I've had in my life. The lodge is beautifully nestled in the jungle, yet surprisingly, it's only a 5-minute walk to the city and train station. The room is well-equipped with everything you need, and Angelo, the host, will go out of his way to cater to any special requests you may have. Speaking of Angelo, he's an incredibly kind and helpful soul who embodies the spirit of a perfect host. He makes you feel welcome and at ease with his charming demeanor. His willingness to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable is truly commendable. If I could, I would book with Angelo exclusively for all my future stays. In short, this lodge is a hidden gem, and I feel fortunate to have experienced it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable stay.

That was the BEST EXPERIENCE we have ever had during the stay. The host and his family was kind, helpful in unbelievable way. They cared about us so much, they've been serving tea and other meals throughout the stay. Food was delicious, place was a bit far from the city centre which was an advantage taking into consideration the traffic in Ella. The host guided us in Tea Factory and took us for the sunrise trekking to ELLA Rock. If u ever have a change to come to Ella, you need to choose this one.

This property is simply magical. Although it is a bit of a splurge, it’s definitely worth it. The retreat is super peaceful and the decor is lovely. Breakfast was great. Staff is super friendly. Location is also amazing, within a 5-10min walk from all the restaurants. We definitely recommend staying here!

A wonderful stay here - the good reviews are completely justified. The view is jaw dropping from the comfy balcony. It is well worth it to stay here out of the noise of Ella and be able to look at it from the hills. They also provide a tuk tuk service into town for very reasonable. The family was wonderfully relaxed and friendly while still helping you with anything you need (and they collect you from the train station!). The dinner here was the best we had during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka - don’t skip it!
