We’re a couple of very experienced travellers. We’ve stayed in some of the best hotels around the world. There are many times that these five star hotels just don’t live up to expectations. Here, we took a chance as all the reviews seemed almost too good to be true. Since our stay at Kandalama Lodge we’ve stayed in many hotels around Sri Lanka. A handful were more costly than Kandalama Lodge and each time we’ve been disappointed. Wedge, the hotel owner was one the most thoughtful and intuitive hoteliers that I’ve come across in this country! His team at the lodge also understood the standards he expected. The lodge has been crafted with such care and precision in a way I’ve not seen anywhere else in Sri Lanka. The layout of the lodge, the plants and flowers around the pool, dining and bar area are reminiscent for me of a high end lodge I stayed at in Bali. Perfection! Don’t get me started on the dreamy outdoor bathroom, wow! Also, I have to say, the food is superb and reasonably priced. Amila is always on hand with his tuk tuk and he’s just the nicest person. The price to go to Lion Rock and Dambulla Cave were reasonable and he didn’t try to upsell us at all. The grounds boys are lovely and keep the pool area and grounds tidy. Honesty I can’t say enough about this place, thank you so much Wedge! I hope we have the pleasure to stay with you again one day.

Very nice neighborhood. Quiet and very nice to have rest at night. The bed is comfy The room is spacious and clean bathroom You can buy very cheap fruits nearby. Family can cook SriLankan food for a very reasonable price. They can organize a Safari in a discounted price. 350 meters walk to take a bus going to Lions rock or you can tell the owner for him to drop you to lions rock with a reasonable price. The wife even accompanied and showed us the short cut way (3 minutes walk) to take a bus going to trincomalee ,Dambulla, Polonnaruwa etc.

Our stay was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a level of warmth and hospitality that made us feel truly at home. We were welcomed with a traditional oil lamp lighting, fresh flowers, and a delightful welcome drink that set the tone for what was to come. Our villa was beautifully decorated with flower arrangements, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Wandering through the property felt like stepping into nature's paradise, with plants and trees carefully labelled and wild creatures like peacocks and giant squirrels adding to the charm. The pool was a serene escape, and enjoying a fresh cup of tea by the water made it even better. The highlight of our stay was an enchanting candle-lit dinner by the pool, with oil lamps casting a warm glow all around us. The food was beyond delicious, and the surprise birthday cake from the entire staff made the evening unforgettable. Breakfast the next day was a feast, featuring fresh, homegrown fruits and vegetables that added a natural and flavorful touch to every dish. It was tough to say goodbye, and we left with only one regret that we couldn't stay longer. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team security, reception, housekeeping, kitchen and especially the Resident Manager Mr. Dinesh who went above and beyond to make our experience truly special. If you're looking for a place that blends luxury with nature and creates memories that last a lifetime, this is it. We can't wait to return!

I had such a wonderful stay here! The owner is so helpful and friendly. It is impossible not to smile when you see or talk to him. The rooms were big and had everything we needed. Mosquito net above the bed too. The whole surrounding is just beautiful, including the Garden area, which is surrounded by the jungle. We also had lunch and dinner there good prices, and many options for Us. and He Gives 5-star service! - a visit to Dambulla cave temple, a drive to the fruit market, excellent breakfasts, tasty coffee, and a good laugh. Thank you! Whenever I come to Sigiriya again, this will be the place to stay.
