FAQs about hotels in Puerto Iguazú

Picturesque Town on Iguazú Falls' Doorstep

Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.

The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.

The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.

The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.

Whether you need a backpacker hostel, a hotel near the airport, or a 5-star resort, don’t miss the Puerto Iguazú deals available on Booking.com!

We were at Puerto Iguazu for two nights to visit the falls...

We were at Puerto Iguazu for two nights to visit the falls and could easily have spent a second day in the park on the Argentinian side if we had had more time. There isn't a great deal to do in Puerto Iguazu itself but we liked the town and thought the restaurants and cafes were good.

    The Falls are spectacular!

The Falls are spectacular! Went first thing in the morning and hiked all the trails. Started with the lower trail, which was basically empty, and with the sun behind us, our views were absolutely incredible. Then did upper trail and finally did the devils throat, which by mid afternoon was crowded, but not bad. A must visit if going to Argentina.

Town has a variety of shops , restaurants and bars. Like other parts of the country the craft beer available is excellent. Transport links are very good especially to the falls and the airport. People are friendly.

A small town, which felt like a ghost town most of the time.

A small town, which felt like a ghost town most of the time. No uber and no much to do, really. It feels we were the only tourists to be there as everyone was local. You get to this village because of the iguazu falls, nothing else really. There’s nothing else to do there

The place is (unfortunately) very over-touristed.

The place is (unfortunately) very over-touristed. The organization at the Falls is chaotic, and needs a complete overhaul (with instructions in English). Skip the train ride, walk to the Central Station, and just do the 2 trails - this will save you hours of frustration. Excellent toilet facilities. If using municipal transport to get back to town, check the final destination of the bus you are getting onto - not all of them go to the "3 Points" terminus, some stop at "Centro" (regardless of what you have paid for).

Our first impression of the city was that it had seen better...

Our first impression of the city was that it had seen better days. Older, run down buildings and sidewalks and poor street lighting. Then we realized that most of the activity in town takes place on the northeast side where it felt like Key West with lots of restaurants, bars and shops. The border crossing into Brasil creates an unbelieveably long line of cars waiting to cross, and while busses and tours have a special lane, it is still a delay. Knowing this now, we would have stayed 3 days ion the Brasil side to see Paraguay, the Brasil side of the falls and the 3 Frontiers park with hte giant ferris wheel. Then we would have come to the Argentine side to spend a full day at the falls (a larger park than the Brasilian side) as well as enjoy the town of Puerto Iguazu and keep the border crossing to a inimum. Fnially, it is unclear why the young people in town are obsessed with drumming. Groups of 10 to 20, mostly teenagers, congregate at each end of town to make noise. Not music, just noise. Not artistic Japanese Taiko type drumming, jsut noise. Oh, and it is unbearably hot.

My wife and I had a good stay here. While some of the furnishings were quite dated, our room overall was clean and comfortable. There is air-conditioning, as well as a small fridge and kettle in the room. The property is also located very near to the bus terminal in Puerto Iguazu, making it really easy to do independent trips to the Falls on both sides of the border. Other amenities like restaurants and shops to buy groceries are within walking distance too.

The setting is amazing, it's like being in a little garden in the middle of the town. Lovely pool area surrounded by palm trees. Really easy to walk into Puerto Iguazu and reach many fine restaurants. The room is large and clean. Wifi is excellent, staff are friendly. It's a small hotel with a cosy feel. Would happily return.

This is a beautiful peaceful place to stay just outside of Puerto Iguazu. spacious cabins with comfortable beds, the most gorgeous tropical garden and a really great sized pool. Breakfast was excellent! Taxis are cheap to get into town, otherwise there is a restaurant nearby, or you can order takeout for dinner.

The hotel is centrally located close to the main bus station which is very good considering that puerto iguazu has no uber or cabify.
