FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

    Such a wonderful small town.

Such a wonderful small town. Sound of music tour was lots of fun. Many good restaurants. Very walkable. We were lucky to be there for a local traditional festival, which was almost like a little Octoberfest, but not rowdy.

An amazing city with so much culture, touristic attractions and museums. The river cruises, guided tours, walking trails and being at the foothills of the Alps makes Salzburg an amazing and colourful city to visit at any time of the year.

We loved the beautiful Old City and the view of the mountains from the castle was amazing. We also recommend the Mozart Museum and the Christmas Museum. The city centre is compact and easily walkable, and ebveryone we met was really friendly and helpful.

Check-in was very easy and time-saving.

Check-in was very easy and time-saving. There was no need to wait in line, simply used the machine, entered my surname and booking number, and everything was done. Honestly, I enjoyed that there was no receptionist; it felt like home just enter the code and walk into the room. One thing I didn’t like was that the sink was not inside the bathroom but in the room itself, right next to the bed. While I appreciate IBIS for being small but well-equipped, this setup did not look good. The hotel is not very close to the airport if you plan to stay here for a late-night flight, keep in mind that it’s about a 20-minute walk to the terminal.

The most enjoyable experience was the visit to Hohensalzburg fortress. To really see it properly, I would advise going in the morning, bringing a picnic or snack and spending a few hours there...there is so much to see. Other highlights were the organ recital in Salzburg Cathedral and visiting so many spectacular churches.... St Peter's church was a favourite and the Jesuit church was quite a surprise...so much colour! The Mirabelle gardens were lovely to stroll in and also the walks along the riverside. We were sorry not to get to Schonbrunn Palace, but hope to return to Salzburg, when that will be our No. 1 priority.

Fantastic location in the heart of old town close to all the main attractions and across the street from Mozarteum university. Many shops and restaurants a short walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is in a period building but beautifully renovated inside. Staff is professional. A big thank you to Ahmet who got us the free Salzburg transportation passes. The cleaning crew was attentive replenishing our bottled water whenever we ran out. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very nice hotel if you don’t need top end luxury. The location couldn’t have been better. Just a 5 minute walk to the old town and only a 15 minute taxi ride to the airport. Breakfast had a good selection of continental and scrambled eggs. The staff was pleasant, helpful and spoke good English.

The hotel is one of the few remaining hotels in Salzburg still in family ownership and this was reflected in the professionalism of all the staff, the attention to detail of the rooms and the restaurant. The location is perfect for walking to the tourist attractions in the old town.
