I loved my stay at the hotel. I appreciated the two types of bottled water provided in the room, as well as the drink vouchers and game tokens. I was also allowed an early check-in and a late check-out. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I can't recommend this hotel enough, and if I ever come back to Cairns, I'll definitely stay here again.

The esplanade and the Cairns museum were great for the fascinating history of the town. The beautiful beaches at Palm Cove and Yorkeys Knob and the stunning waterfalls, lakes and Rainforest of the hinterland. The botanic gardens were wonderful.

Plenty to see in and about Cairns.

Plenty to see in and about Cairns. This was our base and with our own vehicle it was very easy to get around. We took the Sky Rail to Kuranda and returned by train to Freshwater Station and it was a most enjoyable experience. The train only runs twice a day therefore if wishing to return this way, then it pays to book in advance as train seats are limited. The Pier has an array of waterfront venues to choose from offering a variety of food. Most cafes and restaurants have a Menu on display outside the venue. There is even a Brewery further down near the Cruise Terminal. The decor and now the digital fish flooring is definitely worth a visit to the Casino. Good food opportunities here too! Centenary Lakes/Botanic Gardens, Copperlode Dam along with the Crystal Cascades at Redlynch and the Red Beret Hotel are must visits.

Enjoyed Green Island this time, many choices of things to do. Cairns Art Gallery is situated in a beautiful heritage building and worth a visit. Recommend Rocco roof top bar and Miss Chief. Cairns is lively and very touristy its ok Be prepared to be disappointed Mossman Gorge dont bother very controlled and you are not allowed to really walk they are not happy as it is through an indigenous community You are strongly encouraged to pay $15 to take a bus to the gorge In addition most of the areas visited are conveniently closed to the public for supposed your safety and repairs taking many months Examples Lake Placid Barron Gorge I grew up here came back to visit it is no longer free to walk around your own country The islands such as fitzroy not bad but again very crowded Its worth a look but be prepared to find it too crowded and commercial

Cairns is an excellent base for tourists visiting north Queensland. It is a convenient hub for transport to other parts of the area and it also has very good local transport. I love the lagoon on the waterfront and I enjoy swimming there. I also love walking on the promenade along the waterfront. You can see a wide range of shorebirds on the mudflats there - some of them are migratory birds which have flown thousands of kilometres to spend the summer there. The Botanic Gardens is fantastic and contains two excellent cafes and two information centres. Once a week there is a free bird-watching walk which I highly recommend. Behind the Botanic Gardens there are wonderful walks in natural forest and yet more great walks in the area opposite the gardens. Cairns itself is a very interesting place to wander around with lots of restaurants, a gallery, a museum and a weekly market. It hasn't been taken over by ugly high-rise buildings as has happened to so many cities. I always enjoy my time in Cairns.

We enjoyed our stay in Mercure Cairns very much. The room itself was comfortable as were the beds. It is a good location, minutes walk from the Esplanade, Lagoon and Muddies Playground. Lots of great restaurants and bars and convenience stores in the immediate vicinity. The restaurant at the hotel is closed for renovations so we went for breakfast each morning at the Novotel - less than a minute walk away and the staff there were friendly and the buffet selection was great. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely stay in cairns. The location of the apartment was excellent. We loved walking to the cairns lagoon, the night markets/esplanade and along the boardwalk with so many dining options. Island day trips leave from the marina just 2 minutes walk! The apartment was clean, had everything we needed and we loved the convenience of a kitchen and laundry for our family. The balcony had a lovely view of the water. Thank you!!
