The town had everything we needed for the trip, including a...
The town had everything we needed for the trip, including a couple of fabulous op shops/book shops. We found the short way into town from the property and explored the coast in both directions, in addition to our longer day trips to different parts of the island. We divided the island into chunks - it only takes an hour to get to the other end - and did north coast one day, south coast another, Penneshaw and surrounds another, and Flinders Chase (twice), plus one day to look around Kingscote itself. The supermarket is great; the takeaway restaurant fine, we didn't do fine dining but it's there if you want it.Guest review byChristineAustralia - 8.0

Kangaroo Island is big and you need transport to see all of the sites and attractions. Kingscote is reasonably central to everything but is 45 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. We covered most of the main tourist sites, though we were there in winter and some businesses were closed. We liked the relaxed pace and the quiet roads.Guest review byIan BAustralia - 8.0
It was easy to travel around the island.
It was easy to travel around the island. Remarkable Rocks and the Arch are well worth a visit. The Raptor Park and the sand dunes are great. We ate at the Queenscliff Hotel each evening. Good meals at reasonable prices.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

A great little town to base at with central location and many great places to eat. Good IGA- type store (Drakes) for supplies. Surprisingly good bookshop with coffee + lovely resident dog. Good esplanade walk and local history sites within walking distance. The best tidal pool area I have seen . KI has an amazing coastline, good food and wine.
