It was an interesting place to visit. Elvis theme suburb. Motor Museum is a definite place to visit. Also, the dam park, The Thirsty Bushman Cafe, unique as it is placed in front of an antique train. The visit to Parks Observatory is well worth the trip, especially if you are a science or space fan. The 3D cinema with its 3 films is also excellent and worth the $10 charge. Parkes itself is a fairly typical, quiet Australian town with friendly locals and everything you need for a short stay (2 days is more than enough). Attractions are limited but there is historical interest in the local area, which is named after Henry Parkes the father of Australian federalism. In general if you are on a road trip from Melbourne to Brisbane it’s a good over night stop and you can visit the observatory on the route. It’s also a possibility from The Blue Mountains region, whilst it’s a 3 hour drive it’s worth it for space fans.Guest review byDuncanUnited Kingdom

The hotel is 2.5-3 km out of town but we enjoyed the walk and there was an excellent taxi service that we used on one occasion. We were a group of 4 women in the family room and the laundry across from us had additional toilet and shower if we wanted to use them.
