FAQs about hotels in Perth

Serene as the Swan

Sun-drenched and laid-back, Perth is simply a joy to be in. However, the West Australian capital does have tourist attractions, such as the Colonial-era mint, important in the country’s gold industry. East is the WACA, a must-see for cricket fans, and the city is also mad for Aussie Rules football.

The city center has the historic Government House and Supreme Court, both dwarfed by the ultra-modern skyscrapers a few streets behind. The best skyline view is from leafy King’s Park, near the War Memorial overlooking the Swan River below, named after its black swans. Across the river in Perth Zoo are more native animals including koalas, crocodiles and free-hopping kangaroos.

Boats to the zoo leave from the Barrack Street jetty by a sail-shaped bell tower. Other day trips from Perth include Rottnest Island and Fremantle, down the river in the opposite direction from Perth Airport.

The apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Perth are spread all over this fantastic city, interspersed with restaurants serving specialties such as western rock lobster and chili mussels. There are also a wealth of bars, many playing the indie music that the city is known for. Local brews from Swan Brewery and wines from the Swan Valley vineyards round off the evening.

What Guests Said About Perth:

    Perth was an amazing place.

Perth was an amazing place. There was so much to do and people were so helpful. Rottnest Island is a must do. Getting around was very easy. I recommend if using taxis I would install the app didi on your phone it is much cheaper than Ubers. Our trip in the taxi from the airport was $80 and a didi back to the airport was only $23. We stayed in The Oaks Perth hotel right in the city 5 min walk from train station, malls and 15 minute walk to the waterfront. Coles and woolworths are are 2 to 5 minute walk. Will most definitely be return to Perth.

It rained for the majority of the time we were in Perth, but that did not bother us, we were able to visit the Banksy Exhibition and the Terracotta Warriors which both were viewing in Perth. The Mercure is also just a short walk to the Harbour and the free city CAT buses stop right outside. We also ate mostly at the Mercure restaurant which proved to be quite good...Overall a very pleasant stay...

I live in WA, nearly 2 hours south of Perth so I may be biased. Perth is a great getaway for retired couples, groups who are seeking views, beaches, nature walks, bird watching, spring flowers, romantic walks along the river, river cruises, boating, fishing, camping, cafes, restaurants and pubs. We also have a casino. I wouldn't be coming here for extreme adventure (go up north to Karrijini) or fantastic nightlife (Eastern states). But we have a little bit of everything to sample.

This is our second trip to Perth, hence with just 1 week, we explore the suburbs of Perth, and we love the peace and greenery and scenery of the place! Zig Zag Scenic Drive, Yanchep National Park, Lesmurdie Falls.

Perth city is easy to get around. Views of the river are beautiful. It was quite cold while we were there but the weather did improve at the end of the stay. Sundays shops don't open until 11am. There seems to be more closed stores since our last visit.

Great location, right on the sea front. Cottesloe is on the train line between Perth and Fremantle (just 9 minutes to Fremantle). It’s a pleasant 20 minute walk from the hotel to Cottesloe station. Or catch bus 102 from Claremont station or Cottesloe station. Also enjoyed the pub downstairs with some decent food choices and specials. Pleasant and chatty manager/owner David gave us plenty of tips on Rottnest island etc. Great breakfast at cafe nearby Il Lido, busy at weekends.

Convenient location with an IGA and take-away food options nearby. The bus stop to the CBD directly outside the hotel was handy. The airport shuttle service was excellent. Kids loved the pool, which was clean and great for cooling off after a hot day in Perth. The 2 bedroom apartment was comfortable and clean enough for our needs. Having kitchen facilities was also handy.
