AustraliaStaff are friendly and welcoming. Though we were barely there for the week we stayed we had everything we needed. Very hard to get accomodation in Port Augusta at the time but Lisa( receptionist) the legend made room for me and my children for a week stay in such short notice. Very thankful.

New ZealandStaff were absolute gems - very helpful, polite and offered some great advice for my travels. I was knackered after a long day of driving so ordered room service, which I am usually sceptical about. The food was absolutely incredible - best garlic naan I have ever tasted, and the curry was delicious. The room is also very modern for an inn, and easily the nicest inn I had stayed in during my East > West Coast roadtrip. Room had all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Good bed, clean bathroom, working fridge and parking right outside your secure, locked door. Window also had a secure roll down shield thing which was a beautiful touch of security for a female travelling solo!

We loved the location, next day we could go and participate to Parkrun just 5 minutes from the hotel.
Grocery shops just around the corner.
Nice and quiet area and beautiful room.
They send me a code for the private car park and code for the front door and bedroom where we found our keys.

We like Port Augusta but usually only stay one night because...
We like Port Augusta but usually only stay one night because we're passing through. It has many challenges as a community and sometimes gets bad press BUT it is great place to spend at least two nights, and three if you want to relax as well as sight see. The Arid Lands Botanic Gardens are a favourite of ours - best to do a guided tour if you want to learn about our amazing desert flora - and it's OK to have a dog on a leash in a couple of areas. We'd planned to have an arid tasting plate, but the cafe was closing so we missed out on that. The Wadlata Outback Centre is definitely worth a -take-your-time visit and the Yarta Purtli Art Gallery too. The coastal walk is a highlight even if you only do some of it and the Standpipe Hotel's northern Indian menu is fabulous - as it has been for a long time.Guest review byCazAustralia - 10.0

Port Augusta is an underrated gem of a town. Great shopping, lots of cafes, a traveler’s rest kind of vibe. I had a brush with the law while I was there-failing to indicate in a timely manner-but the policeman couldn’t have been nicer. He understood that I was new here, and allowed me some leeway. Only a caution, and some knowledgeable advice on the ins and outs of the town generally. Astounding. Port Augusta is beyond disappointing.
Port Augusta is beyond disappointing. On the map it looks like it would be a great place to stay. In reality, it offers almost nothing for visitors other than an overnight stop for people going where they really want to go, which is clearly NOT Port Augusta. It has so much unrealised potential to be a 'destination' but its lack of desire to serve tourists leaves it as nothing more than a 'waypoint'.Guest review byAllynAustralia - 8.0

Port Augusta is nice peaceful place with plenty of food places, Accomodation when not booked out is clean and restful. With Big W and KMart Hub Sports and Toy Shop and other food and other places to peruse a good place for a week stay they also have Wadlata Outback and a nature ground to look at Not far away is the Flinders Ranges and a lot of thing else around , with a bit of Sight Seeing within Driving DistanceGuest review byMaywald - 10.0

We thoroughly enjoyed our Port Augusta trip. We stayed at the Augusta Courtyard Motel, which was excellent. There may not be a lot to see but it’s quite a pretty town & nothing’s very far away. We went down to the wharf for a peaceful stroll and took some lovely photos. Had breakfast in a cafe adjacent to a park, where there was free live music courtesy of a band that was singing and playing. They even supplied fold up chairs for folks to sit in 👍 A great morning was had before we headed off to the race track. Our horse wasn’t a winner but everything else was.
